And how does he get killed in cross-fire when there is a billion rebel fighter surrounding him?
Also couldn't they have worked out what to do with his body before launching the final attack on Sirte, in case his killed?
NATO was apparently tracking him (till the final air strike) for a week so pretty sure NTC would have known his whearabouts as well and that he didn't disappear in thin air like Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden.
So obviously he would have wound up dead or captured alive.

One of the 1st pronouncements of post-liberated Libya was.......wait for it......
No more restrictions on many wives a Libyan man can have!
Yup, taking care of the urgent issues first and foremost.

This will be a disaster for sure. I am convinced. The ordinary Libyans will continue to suffer as different groups fight for power.

Their big advantage is, it is a very small population, only 6mil + around 3mil guest workers. So no matter how spasticated the new leadership maybe, if they are slightly less violent/authoritarian/corrupt, Libyans will prosper.
There is 150bil in Libyan state assets in banks/hedge funds/stocks/properties/companies overseas, so the minimum level of decency, and they'll prosper despite the new group of savages that will lead the country.

Adopting sharia law! How awesome for freedom loving women!
It's almost like inventing a time machine that can only go backwards.

The rebels did kill many Black workers in Libya simply because some of them worked for Gaddafis army
They also treated Gaddafi without class after capturing him, really brave, the lot of them

For those whinging about Sharia law and prospect of Tunisia turning to another radical head chopping state, Islamist party is far from what you think it is.

Just coz they go under the tag of "islamic" doesnt automatically make them the bad wife beating radicals.

I think a man of his authoritarian nature would have preferred the quick death over, years spent in a legal mess, and then the inevitable death penalty.
He said he would die on Libyan soil, and that's what happened.

Yeah but not get mob-bashed and sodomized.
Its hard to speculate exactly he wanted. All along he has been tough talking and going on about staying and fighting like a brave man. But at the very end he did make the dart for escape. But probably a bit too late.
