Default BC bulletin : Shakib and rain frustrate South Africa in drawn match

Shakib and rain frustrate South Africa in drawn match
19 February 2008
The three-day practice match between BCB XI and touring South Africa ended in a draw at NOS today, but not before the BCB XI batsmen forced the tourists to toil for most part of the final day. BCB XI batted superbly to take a first innings lead over the tourists before declaring at 412 for 9.
Rain further frustrated the tourists as it denied them the much needed batting practice before the first Test which starts on Friday at Mirpur Sher E Bangla Stadium.

Nice bulletin. Hope SA (bowlers) didn't hold back in the practice match like we did.

Couldn't find the match thread. So posting here.

Shakib's last 23 came of 12 balls. He scored 73. So after his fifty he went crazy. Why? 3 o'clock show dortey hobay? Bolaka naki Anondo'tey? What show is going on there I wonder. ek ticket'a dui chobi?

Interesting read from Supersport.

SA seamers horribly disillusioned

by Johann de Jager | 20 February 2008 (00:24)
Graeme Smith © Gallo Images

The South African seamers were horribly disillusioned in the warm-up match in Fatullah (Bangladesh) against a local Council XI on a pitch that gave them little or no assistance on Tuesday. Tuesday, on the third and final day, the Protea bowlers were bowling either too short or too full. And the home side's batsmen exploited that, even though it looked at times as if anyone would have been able to bat on that pitch.
Proteas skipper Graeme Smith hopes they will be able to use what they have learned here in the first Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka, which starts on Friday.
The Council team declared their first innings closed on Tuesday on 412/8 in reply to South Africa's 397 runs.
The visitors were 47/0 after nine overs in their second innings when it was decided to call it a day.
'Pitch differs slightly'
Smith said it hadn't been about a result or to bowl out the home side. It was an exercise in which they concentrated on specific aspects.
The skipper nevertheless conceded that it would not be easy, because the ball skids through slowly and low all the time.
