Unhappy Bring back Javed Omar?

Most ppl here will hate me for this, but i really think we are not helping SN and his form by letting him open. He either needs to be pushed down or pushed out, the opening stand is the most important stand in ODIs, and SN is just just just just out of touch. Eventhough Javed is slow, he is quite dependable and with the aggression of Tamim we don't really need someone like Nafees to keep a check on runrate. If we could just keep wickets in hand for like 10/15 overs we can easily score around 280-300 with the batting line up. But with the current squad, it's either 100/6 in 20 overs or 200 in 50. Accept it guys, it's time to let Shahrier Nafees rest. In a team like bangladesh where every match counts, either you perform or someone else is waiting on the door, you just have to perform, there is no luxury like other top teams. WE should think about it hard now, bringing back Javed might not be the perfect way but i don't see any other option

JO should not have ever ever ever been selected for the final 15 for the WC...so there is no reason in hell that he should be mentioned as a replacement for anyone.

bring rajin in...he is at WORST equivalent to JO in every batting dept, plus he can bowl some useful off spin as well as he's a fabulous fielder to boot. and on his day, he can be a decent batsman, quite a bit better than JO

frankly i don't see why one should bring JO or rajin saleh in? none has the batting temperament of nafees? isn't nafees the highest century-hitter in bd history? forget about axim him, we have nobody close to him in class and temperament. until we find one, stick with him. that's simple.

Yup, bring back JO.

WC matches r high profile. You can't send in a batsman every match, HOPING he's gonna perform again!

I am posting this stats again. When it comes to ODIs against 8 teams ranked above us, SN is not better than JO or Rajin, if not worse.

Averages of our batsemen against big eight:

BatsmanAvg
Ashraful21.02
Alok 20.97
Javed20.26
Rajin19.36
Shahriar 19.22
Aftab 18.8
Bashar17.75

(I excluded stats of Sakib, Tamim, and Mushfiq as they have not played enough matches yet.)

What I am trying to say here is that none of the batsmen mentioned above are much different from each other in terms of consistency. When we have to pick and choose in between them, their current form should be the major factor, not past history.

Nah, the next thing should be to finish the super-8, go home, and then try to find couple of batsmen who are technically sound enough to be openers. Until then just go with the best stop gap options available.

Tamim Iqbal isn't quite getting the runs also including Aftab. Should we drop both of them too?
I believe that we have a good opening pair in Nafees and Tamim. Yes Nafees is not performing but he has the potential and hopefully he will click in the next few games.
What is more important is that hopefully Tamim will get some senses put in him and not try to slog every good damm ball that comes his way he has the ability to take away some pressure early on from the other batsmen and this will I think solve the problem with Nafees.

i want to drop Nafees for at least 1/2 matches, he's just out of form. it's not that he's not a good batsman, but its about form. there's no point wasting a position.

while we still can gamble with Tamim. I hope he'd rock again against NZ.

Dont forget, Javed Omar Belim was one of the major contributor in the match against NZ, which BD won! Without that opening partnership BD would not have won against NZ. And it was just 3 weeks ago! Wake up people, Some people want to force their eyes closed pretending they are sleeping.

Thats a very silly comment from you Al. Are you suggesting someone should not be included just because he will potentially retire soon? Maybe you can retire on his behalf too? We know JO is not the best batsmen in the team, but with SN consistently failing, what is wrong with JO playing 1-2 matches here and there? I did not see you posting this comment when JO-Tamim won the match against NZ?

No way ... we should continue with SN - TI pair for the remaining games. Both of these two are capable of playing good, we have already seen that, so lets give them chance to get back to form. Don't forget we are in the super-8 and this WC our realistic expectation was to reach super-8 so that we ave the chance to play the stronger teams. Now suddenly we are in super-8 and it seems many of us are taking this for granted and pushing for the semis.

From a fan point of view there is no harm in wanting the team to reach the semis, I want that to happen as much as you do, but any sane person would agree that it is actually far more important to utilize this opportunity to give some top class exposure to our young players. There is absolutely no point in having JO in the team now.

Tamim and Aftab might not be getting runs true, but they haven't looked even a bit out of touch, they are playing confident strokes and playing positively and getting out to either a good catch or a good ball, but I have seen SN repeatedly getting out to a same type of ball and playing as if he is really really scared. IF you look at his face you will think that there is a alot of expectation and pressure on him and he is just giving up. He is not trying at the moment. That has got to do with very low self confidence. The team has to hit the panic button with him and do something to get his confidence level back. I have to say this again, either you push him down or get Javed back, we can't play with him. If we can try Taposh then why not Javed, and if the other players were not going to play then why bring them to WI?

Yeah? And what about the India match? Which Javed Omar played in that match?

Javed's early dismissal has been the key to many of our major ODI victories.
