Picked Tushar, Mehrab and Farhad, led by the great JOm, for my choice of 4 returnees.

I admit I personally have something against Tushar, but then again, he's never been considered for our Test squad seriously.

Mehrab seems like an obvious choice from this poll so far, but I always included him in my preferred Test squad, if not the playing XI. However, he's been out of sorts lately, and Tamim's overall improvement is interesting me enough to give him the go as Nafees' opening partner.

Farhad
is T20 and ODI material at best, not for Tests. The great JOm is a gone-case, past history.

So my playing XI for the first Test, followed by the rest of the squad, would look like this :

Nafees
Tamim

Bashar
Ashraful
Sakib
Aftab
Mushfiq
Mashrafee
Enamul jnr
Sajidul/Razzak (undecided yet on whether we need the 2nd spinner or the 3rd pacer)
Shahadat

12th Man : Rajin (include him in the Test squad)
Rest of the squad, who'll have a LOT to learn from the bench : Junaed, Sajidul/Razzak

Edit : Missed out on Nazmul Hossain, for some reason. Well, he should join the non-playing XI members, if the squad is in fact a 15-man one.

JO Golla!! We don't need you any more. You are the most senior player of Bangladesh now. But you never play for Bangladesh. You only play for your own interest. After playing for a long long time you still don't have a style. In every ball you are beaten. So go home. It's really amazing how you get chance in BD team. You might have strong connection!!

I think it's rather unfair that someone from Tushar and Mehrab will have to go home. Both are orthodox batsmen and carries good potential for the test team. Those two just got the taste of NZ bowlers and the wickets here. Atleast one of them could have done better than Rajin or HB if he was persisted with. But by sending Rajin and HB, selectors made it clear that one or both of Tushar and Mehrab will be sent back.

Tushar shouldn't be left out. He looked so condident in the last match which he never did (well i never seen him that confident). He will do fine in the Test matches. Before he used to be under too much pressure to score and keep the place in the team. Now he doesn't have any pressure as the new coach has confidence in him.

That's a good point. Although Vettori finally got him, I would say Tushar did look good against Vettori (at least he was not making wild sweeps like Aftab) and that should be a key factor to think about (besides the confidence factor) when you select someone for the #6 slot in the test team. That means I will have to let young Mehrab go.

My final send back list - JO, Nazmul, Shakib, and Mehrab.

Tamim is the only one who seems to be comfortable with the pitch in NZ. He played with a cool head.

I voted for Mehrab, Reza, Sakib and Razzak. Razzak doesn't have the variation in bowling needed to play in tests.Mehrab would have been an asset if he could bat. Reza is not good enough to bat or bowl in tests I think. Interesting..I forgot one of Sakib and Mehrab should stay back as the backup spinner. One of JO and Zunaed should go home..now if Zunaed performs as well as the last ODI he should stay..I wouldn't send Nazmul or Sajid home because we definitely need a third seamer (Sajid),and we need a backup in case of injury.Sajid should be played in the third ODI.

i thnk these 4 shud go---
1. Tamim --> he is in a good form, but i dont thnk he has any temperment to play longer version game......he shud spend more time playin 4 day NCL...... i have seen his last 2 innings... he stil want to play the risky whack over long on..i thnk we shud try Junaid here he seems more mature.... he cudnt do big score last two games but he looked confident...

Mehrab jnr --> he shud go, i still cannot believe how he got out on his first ODI...

Razzak --> he is the best for ODI not for test....he is another Brad Hogg.....

Farhad --> i thnk he is the best lower middle order for ODI only.....not for test....

my team shud be--

SN
Tammy
Basher
Ash
Sakib
Tushar
Mushi
Mash
Sajid
Shadat
Enam

anyway why we are not trying with 3 pacers.........???

This is my preferred team for the first test:
Tamim Iqbal
JO/Zunaed-depending on third ODI (Is Zunaed really that mature for tests?)
Rajin Saleh ( we need him)
M. Ashraful (c) (watch out NZ)
Aftab Ahmed
Tushar Imran (looked solid in 2nd ODI)
Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
Mashrafee Mortaza (out of form-really needs a backup pacer)
Shahadat Hossain
Sajidul (should really play the 3rd ODI)
Enamul Haque Jr

This team looks pretty balanced with 6 genuine batmen, 3 pacers plus Aftab's part-timers. Only lacking is in spin with only Ash among the regulars to back Enam Jr. But Rajin and Tushar can both do off-spin,and Sakib's would prob not be much more effective than them anyways. If anyone has to be replaced from this line-up it should be between Aftab and Tushar(I wouldn't).

our coach likes the young openers, i see both Tamim and Zunaid staying unless Zunaid doesnt play a long innings in the last ODI. If he does than JO is going home otherwise its Zunaid, Nazmul, Mehrab & Aftab (he's still not test material).

Tamim may be getting his Test cap here. I like him a lot and I hope he does deserve it. I have seen that he can play a patient innings, but remember in Test cricket, there is no powerplay. I can see that JS has a good effect on him, and Tamim has grit and determination.

Tamim going to get test cap, that's for sure.
I think he got some weakness of short ball but his cover drive, straight drive and flick shot is good.

Why are your "squads" just 11/ 12 strong ? Surely, it must be at least 15.
