1. BD did well to stop England from breaching the 400 mark.

Personally i hope and wish that Indian team would be the first to reach and breach that mark, and that too against Pakistan/Australia or England.

2. The margin of defeat was huge but i am sure nobody would pause to think over it given the magnitude of joy derived from Ashraful's mauling of the English Bowlers.

3. Two BD batsman got a fifty plus score. Now when was the last time you saw that done against a quality opponent.

4. Ashraful batted like a champ. I am not sure if the carefree batting was the result of having accepted the inevitable and let the bat do the talking, or a young batsman making a statement, or both. What i am sure though is, he has come of age.

5. I see a growing number of devout Pagla-Baba followers.

Now, the cricket crazy bangla fans run the risk of going Beserk. And Ironic as it may be, i have to applaud the team even in their 150+ runs mauling

Our team spirit is fantastic. Another win is very much possible. We have already hit our target (Aftab, Ash, JO and Masrafee are all collected valuable confidence and experience; also we showed the world that we are getting very close to them). If we get another win that would be the icing on the cake.

we just need ash, aftab, bashar, mashrafee, tapash, rafique all performing together at the same game. just like they did against australia. the day they can start doing that regularly, the day we'll start winning reguarly. had ashraful got some support from aftab, bashar and some slog batting from rafique and mashrafee, BD surely would've scored 300+, and that too against ENGLAND.

391 was too much. Unacceptable. We didn't get such beating even as an ICC Associate.

223 in 45 overs with 2 half centuries, Ash's 94 off 52. Now that's just too much and it's a GREAT thing. Those who don't understand the importance of these either doesn't follow Bangladesh 24/7 or doesn't realize that we are the new (only been 4 years guys, give us some time) kid in the block and we are not going to win every single match or every other match or maybe even every fifth match that we play. We need to check our expectations and not get carried away and we need to IGNORE people who keep trying to take the joy of winning these odd matches away from us. Winning against Australia was almost like winning the World Cup for a new team like Bangladesh - who cares what the circumstances were ? I don't, I am going to cherish that win for the rest of my life, even when we start winning EVERY SINGLE MATCH.

If you really look into it, there is nothing much to cheer about in this game. Ash's superhuman innings covered up many things that otherwise would have been very ugly looking.

*2nd hightest odi score.
*highest odi score against a test side.
*first instance of a century and 6 wicket by a player

unless we had that 8th fastest half century we would not have any positive in this game at all.

first of all after reading that idoits tapon jhosi artical yesterday, i personally hope india is the first team to get all out under 10.
and yes there were few good thing that came from todays match. ashraful finally broke the curse and performed well back to back. bangladesh scored 223 which is good score compare to our standard. javed showed that he can play odi cricket as well. other then that i dont see any good thing.

Ashraful is the most shaky starter though. Once he middles one, he almost can do anything to any bowler. If we are to compete consistently in ODI's, one thing must happen for us some time in the future, and that is for Ash to come in at no.3. For that to happen, the openers must make sure they build a decnt platform in the first 7-8 overs. With the field restrictions in the first 15 overs, Ash can really make it very easy for batsmen coming after him. He is the type of player that will take advantage of the restrictions. Failures will happen. it happens to everybody. But, on his day, he can tear any attack apart. That is a fact and we all wish that it happens more often.

There are lot of people forom BD on this forum and elsewhere who keep writing anti-india inflammatory articles/posts and i would still not hope, personally or otherwise, that BD should suffer any such ignonimy.

I love BD fans - i have no answer why, and it will take lot more than a few inflamatory posts to turn me against BD.

On the side note, i had also noticed and compared the number of views and responses on Tapon Joshi's negative article and Dilip Premchandran's fantastic summary on the BD win and i'd rather reserve my comment on what i observed. Lets say, it was disappointing.

I was a very big fan of India. After reading Tapon article I am dissapointed and I think I won't follow Indian match anymore even though Tendulkar is my favourite batsman all time. Personally I cant stand Tapon thoughts about bangladesh. He destroyed my appetite.

Beamer, good thought on Ash at 3 down the road. We have been hiding him at 4 and 5 because of his erstwhile poor form. His ability to take on pacers plus some consistency will help at 3, and if we get even a half-decent start from the openers (ie not getting blown away in the first 5 overs) like we have been recently, then 150/2 may not be so surprising in the future. Bashar should go back to 4, Aftab is perfect for acceleration at 6 (although people will want him up the order) - we need to settle on a 5 who can hold it together - between Tushar, Rajin, Alok, Mushfiqur Rahim, et al, I am not too worried - just as long as one of them is in form at any given time.

a lot of people are hoping that Ash gets a county call.

It,s a tough call as things have drastically changed over
the years so it may take a few more years. I am sorry that BD has to play in such a tough environment, compared to the case of Pakistan or West Indies, who had the privelege of sending so many of their players. Otherwise our graduation would have been smoother.

I am just disappointed on our last match, not on our performance but on the reality/fact that only a toss win could change the whole picture of the match, it could have looked better ( respectable ) even we loose easily against England. Just wondering why this toss is not favoring us or Bashar at all! Next match with England, Bashar should win the toss first ,if we want to show more or less competition with them.

And yes we should put in Rana and Nafees Iqbal coming games, both with England and Australia.

That innings was simply too special....It takes a lot of courage to do that.....He made Harmison sweat blood...Damn...it made me believe we can get 300 at one point...

But let me tell u one thing....seriously...that innings by Ash was more important for Bangladesh cricket then just in the context of that match...If Ash did not perform like that...the so-called "Pundits" would have had even more fuel for chucking us out of the test dining table!

EDITED. Ofcourse i would love Bangladesh to be called but to come to the reality its aint yet time that ppl will call us but Inshallah after 5-10yrs, we will be the Top Team given the condition we happen to keep the hard work and not kick out players simply.

Lance, if you have problems with India then don't you think it's better to articulate them in a cogent manner instead of resorting to reflexive anti-Indianism akin to the anti-Americanism of lefties?
