Default Ashraful could be a contender for Man of the Tournament

With 1 hundred and 2 consecutive 50s and if he can score some more in next two matches he could be a contender for Man of the Tournament.

He needs more good innings to surpass players like Symonds all round performance.

we all hope and wish that he will win it...but do remember that he will have to out-perform harmison/trescothick/symonds/strauss....and who knows who else..

just as an update...

Leading Batsmen
Name................Runs..........HS.............S R...........100s....50s
Strauss..............253............152..........1 04.97.......1..........1
Ashraful..............252............100.......... .105.00.......1.........2
Trescothick...........201...........100*.......... 106.91........1.........1
Hayden...............173.............66*.......... ...84.80........0.........1

***All have played in 4 innings with everyone but Ash being not-out in 1 innings...(therefore, the "averages" are quite screwed and I didnt include those...)

Leading Bowlers
Name.............Wickets....Best.........SR....... .....4w.........5w
Harmison........10...........5-33..........22.2...........1............1
Brad Hogg........9.............3-29..........22.6...........0...........0
Symonds..........6..............5-18.........14.3...........0............1
Collingwood.....6.............6-31..........23.0...........0...........1

***point to be noted...symonds has played only 2 matches, while the other have played 4 so far...

But right now, Ash looks like a good MoS candidate...if he can keep up his form and if the others dont get too many runs...

(sorry if the alignments arent too good...source cricinfo.com)

One thing is for sure- no one else in this series has dominated McGrath, Lee, or Harmison the way Ash did. So, he is the best batsman of the tournament until this point.

The best part about it is that he's embarrasing the pacers, we all knew Ash ould play spin but now he can handl;e the pacers as well and not just the guys who bowl @ 82 or 83 mph but guys who go well above 90mph. lokk at the bowlers he's mauled in england

Shaoib
Harmmision
McGrath
Gilespie
Lee.

Also 1 point to make if Ashraful was batting against our bowling attack who knows how many runs he might have scored.

lol. nice one cricman. who knows how much he would have scored if he played against our bowling attack. its not a fair comparison of the batsmen is it? if ash had been in the english side and played against bd players instead of playing against harmi and flintoff, one cant say he wudnt hit 36 runs in one taposh over judging from his fireworks off harmison.
anyways, i do think ash is a strong contender for the man of the series or atleast the best batsman of the series if there is such a thing!

thats actually a very possible scenario. dont see anything "dreamy" about this. ash is the best batsman on the tour so far (the other batsmen get to face bd bowlers, ash doesn't)

That's right, everyone else got their big scores against our clueless bowlers. Harmison, who got five wickets in the previous match against Australia, had to be taken off the attack in front of Ash. Lee also did pretty good against England in the last match, but still got bashed by Ash.

Ash has a chance...but he really does need to out-perform the rest...

Well, even Pointing admitted Ashraful has a very good chance to be named MOS, even though he technically called Ash "crazy".

The same argument goes for BD bowlers as well, they are always facing good batsmen. If masri and co could bowl with the same venom they bowled against Australia at old trafford against JO, Nafees(1&2) etc we could get more wickets than just none.
But I must say our batsmen had been performing better than our bowlers in the Natwest series, but hey this is a one day match isn't it?
