I have a DV camcorder with passthrough feature.
I usually record the VHS into my DV Camcorder and then transfer it to my PC. There are other solutions too. Here's a list of the equipment you may use to transfer a VHS videotape to PC:

1. Video capture card fitted to the computer; or
2. External capture device that can be connected to the computer; or
3. Graphics card that includes a socket to connect a VCR

Yo will also need some Software such as EditStudio or MyDVD to capture the video and store it on the computer.
