Default Match Thread: Bangladesh vs Australia Natwest series 9th ODI

Habibul Bashar's troops look to give Ricky Pointing's men another shock as Bangladesh play their Final Game in the Natwest Series and as Australia are preparing to defend the Ashes for an unpreccedented 19th consecutive year.

With another good knock Bangladesh star Mohammad Ashraful will most likely be the Favorite to win the Man of the series award.

Bangladesh will play with heavy hearts as their coach is in Australlia mourning the death of his father.

Time - Match will start at 9:45 GMT

Weather - Light Rain for Tommorw high of 20C

The bangladesh team, specially ashraful seems very optimistic of tomorrow's match. i would be very happy if our team ends this tour with a closely fought match. good luck!!

You will be hammered.

Don't mean to be pessimistic or blunt, just speaking the truth I am afraid.

You might be right but I am sure BD players would like to finish the tour in a good note. So I am expecting sometime more competitive.

All the very best to our team. Last 2 months, everyone followed closely. Tomorrow will be the end of a long tour where our cricketers learned a lot and earned some respect. But we still have to work harder to overcome our obstacles. We have no doubt in our mind as we play more with tougher team, we will improve quickly. SL is the next stop... so tune in.

I was checking the grounds record for Canterburry and it seems one of the corners where people did not enjoy one day that much. The last one - day was between Zimbabwe and South Africa in 2003 and both the teams went past 200 (If that is the correct ground where the tree fell down and a new plant was introduced which is not capable of holding all the sixes its predecessor did). It has a capacity of 15000 which is not really bad and as the record says it is the home for english wicket-keepers. I think Khaled Mashud should shine and show that Khaled/Rahims are much better than GO Jones both professionally and mentally.

If we really want to get inspired by grounds record we should look at the second of the 3 ODIs that been played in St. Lawrence which was between Zimbabwe and WI. The picture is well set here. Zimbabwe also started there two months tour in England with a poor show of cricket when they lost to Kent by an innings in the same ground. Luckily they had much lower ranked opponent WI in the Natwest Series and they started to look good.

I am also scared of getting hammered.Beating Australia has not become a regular thing for us yet.Winning will be awsome. But if we lose,a respectable defeat will be fine with me.

Friends! Let us just relax. I know who ever plays today (Rana Vs Mahmud, Tapash Vs Nazmul, Nazmul Vs Mahmud) will give their 110% effort on the field. That did not happen for us for a long time. For the 2nd time (1st time was the 2nd ODI against Aus) we are facing Australia, knowing that on our day we can win and we can win comprehensively. Simply this has made us proud. Now are now playing for a win. I am sure the players will play positive cricket, and if a win comes by that will be pleasant but not surprising. If that happens, let us dedicate it to Dav Whatmore - to cheer up his day of grief.

actually there is more reason to be optimistic....

since the game is series is drawing towards an end....and bangladesh has little or no chance of making towards the final....our players are likely to play good as they got their tension off their back....

might see some actions unfold.......

but putting up a good fight against the aussies has become a regular thing.....

even in last match where some people might say that we got belted out, players like ashraful, nafees put a terrific fight back.....

Tushar Imran is just a poor quality batsman. How did he get selected by hitting 4's off school boys in BD ?

4.5 Lee to Tushar Imran, OUT: full length ball, swinging in, Tushar playing across the line gets bowled.

The way Javed Omar got out shows how poor his bating techniqes vs quality bowling. And Tushar Imran was even worse, he did not have a clue where the ball went.
