Default Match Thread: BanglaCricket XI vs The Lions, Tour Match (Simulation)

The BanglaCricket XI start their campaign today with a warmup match in Kimberley against provincial team the Lions. The visiting side have fielded an understrength team, giving opportunity to those who mightn't play on the tournament and it's a chance to prove before the 1st Test on July 30.

It's a very flat pitch which looks like it will produce a lot of runs. It will be a hard match for the bowlers but a dream for the batsmen. Don't expect a result from this game.

Neil McKenzie has won the toss and elected to bat first

Default Stumps - Day One

Lions 3/356

Bacher 126
Mall 40
Van Jaarsveld 41
McKenzie 95*
Otto 48*

Chinaman 0/53
LateCut 0/54
Shaoun 0/61
Rafiq 1/74
Navarene 2/67
Tehsin 0/42

So it's been a disappointing opening day for the visitors but they battled hard and progressively dropped the run rate throughout the day. The team showed great spirit dispite the great displays from Adam Bacher and Neil McKenzie

As predicted before the start, it was a nothing pitch for the bowlers, and the Lions have piled on the runs, with all their batsmen reaching double figures. Two brilliant centuries from opener Adam Bacher and skipper Neil McKenzie were the peak of the lot.

Rafiq and Navarene picked up 4 wickets each for the BanglaCricketers.

The visitors have scored at a quick pace with aggressive batting from James and Nasif, who both reached the half-century mark by the end. They will be looking to pick up things from where they have left off today, hoping to get some more batting practice out there in the middle tomorrow.

Lions pilled up a huge score on a batting pitch. A little disappointed with the bowling, lets see if our batsmen can counteract the bowling disappointment.

So the run fest comes to an end, with a total of 1073 runs being scored in three days of play here at Kimberley. The batsmen never seemed to have been troubled by the bowlers from either teams.

The touring side proved to have a solid middle-order. Nasif hammered a brilliant 122, while James, Tehsin and Shaoun all scored half-centuries. For the Lions, de Bruin bagged 4 wickets, with Terbrugge and de Wet equally sharing the other 4 to fall. All in all, it was more or less a good practice match for the BanglaCricketers.

First test between BanglaCricketXI and South Africa will start from July 30, at Port Elizabeth. We hope you will be joining us there. Till then, good bye!
