Well... maybe Boycott was right: some kind of test matches with one team much stronger than the other are useless and boring!!!

I think their openers will be dismissed cheaply. Their batting will depend a lot on Vaughn's performance

Atleast this England team will not be boring like they used to be , with Bell, Pietersen and Flintoff in the middle order.
Till now, all of Harmison's major bowling efforts had come against weaker batting lineups. So his five wickets was a minor surprise.

He was assisted by Australia who batted like arrogant millionaires underestimating the England attack.
Thats the main downfall of Australias batting effort.
Don't count on Bell to be overly entertaining. He will bat at about Thorpes pace but with a bit more flair.

Look at the other end Lee 3 -2 -1-0. i think Ian bell is on a rude awakening of his 297 average. Congrates McGrath.

See even Eng playing how cautiously after losing early wickets, BD player should learn from them.

Take a bow Glenn McGrath, take a bow! You deserve it. Blast those pommies out of the ground, shows them that you're the no.1 bowler in the world.
But i'm not gonna say anything more, i'm just gonna wait and see who's has the last laugh.
Arrogance or no arrogance, Aussies will play at 3.5+ rpo no matter what; thats how cricket should be played, it should entertain the crowd. The crowd don't like to see 100 scored of 40 odd overs.

There is no excuse at all for 20-5 and I am not making excuses here, England have batted not very well.
But, I am watching the telecast and the pitch is appalling. Vaughan and Flintoff have got out to balls that have shot along the floor, and it isn't even the end of day 1. It is up and down. A very poor wicket. One minute the ball is hitting the batsman on the head, the next it is bowling a batsman under the bat of the same length.
The Lords groundsman shoud hang his head in shame. A true shocker.

Most of the Aussies gave their wkt away, but this is pure class bowling for which Eng seem to have no answer even to stay on crease.

PS. Credit to McGrath though. I appreciate good cricket and this is a joy to watch, he is exploiting the conditions brilliantly.
As I said though, very poor pitch. Shooters on day 1! Joke.

England should not have any excuse, as they are playing in their home ground.

no point blaming the pitch and kicking the dirt my friend.........both the teams face the same pitch. I think if i remember correctly there was a lot of criticism on Ponting's decision, arrogance of the Aussie batsmen and "brlliant" english bowling etc etc. Not one person mention the "appaling" condition of the pitch.
cmon rob- no point shooting yourself in the foot now- lets just watch the game and see how it goes.
Now- i think arrogance is prevailing over "fear"!

The pitch is bad, but you always have to do something wrong to be 20-5. Bloody hell, its a pathetic score.
I am not making up excuses - just saying the pitch is bad.
I want to see England counter attack here. There is no point just blocking.
I did say that the Aussies played bad shots and helped England so I am not shooting myself in the foot.
I am making reasonable comments.
