Default Exceptional Fast Bowling Coach

Why can't we get Ian Pont from Essex CCC involved with the Tigers?

He's reportedly the world's best bowling coach and Darren Gough says he's awesome. His web site is also very good! Doesn't any of the Board members at Bangladesh know this guy? If he can make a difference we should get him...

In life everyone tries to better themselves, let it be in profession or personal life.

I was amazed to see how Dean Jones described the art of reverse swinging in the panel discussion during the lunch break of the 4th ashes test. He described/showed how to hold the ball, which part of the ball to wet (near the seam area), how to rough up one edge and shine the other, what hold over or across the seam would give what sort of variation...etc etc. Even during the match (last test), they showed over and over again how the batsman can identify which way the ball's shine is facing, how the bowler is holding the seam and other very informative stuff. Dean Jones mentioned that in the indian team it is the responsibility of the non-striker to help the batsmen with the direction of the swing. If the bowler is aiming for an outswinger (based on his grip over the seam), the non-striker would hold his bat in his left hand, and if it is an inswinger then he will hold his bat in his right hand (both for a right-handed batsman). I found it very fascinating indeed!

Sometimes I wonder if our bowlers pay any attention to this sort of things. We dont have a specialist bowling coach yet, but so much info is out there. Rajib struggled during his Eng tour (with the national side). So did he work on his swing? Do our bowlers try to learn new tricks with the ball (how to move the ball bith ways) or are they just satisfied with the technique they have developed so far?

Whatmore said that "Golla" was aware of his limilations (just an example). But most of our bowlers are young. They have a long way to go before they reach the point-of-no-return stage like Golla. They should be trying to learn new tricks. Wonder if they are!

Shariff and to a less extent Shanto was the only pacer who could bowl reverse swing. Mashrafe must develop it to become better.
