Default Bogura Saheed Chandu Stadium ready to take off.

The latest cricket venue in Bangladesh waiting to be recognized by the ICC is the Shaheed Chandu Stadium of Bogra. the Stadium had already finished its modernization work when Clive Lloyd visited BD for reviewing the possible international venues. But Saheed Chandu St. did not get recognition due to the absence of proper scoreboard and accommodation facilities. But to meet those demands, some more development works has been done and an impressive rest house has been constructed with a nice landscaped complex and the stadium and facilities now meets all the requirements. It may be recognized as an international venue from the ICC next time BD is reviewed for it.

Is Bogura as big as Rajshahi? I am wondering about the ticket sales. They need to make it free for school boys for every match.

I had a glance of this stadium and it's surroundings last March. Looked big & impressive. A 5-star hotel was being built within walking distance of the stadium. I liked the fact that it was being built away from the crowded areas of the city, with room to expand. Good news this.

I agree that having a new stadium is good indeed but wrt your comment about it being away from the city, I wonder how may poor farmers have lost their land thru the exercise of eminent domain to make way for this complex.

Not "away from the city", but from the "crowded areas of the city". Actually, the urban developments reach miles beyond the stadium, including the fancy motel by Porjoton. I doubt these were farmlands in recent times.

Excellent. 3 Hours in your car. Roads are in the best of conditions. There are seven different approach roads reaching The Jamuna bridge on either side. A nice, smooth drive. Roads are not as nice inside the Bogura town, however, as some of you may know, the Military Garrison is big. Roads around the garrison are pretty good. Stadium is not too far away. Roads around the Stadium and the hotel are all new.
