Default Kapali\'s fielding

This is now 3 times in a row that Alok Kapali have dropped a catch in each tournament or series. And would you believe it that all of them were off the bowling of Khaled Mahmud?

First Kapali dropped a very high catch off Sujon versus Kenya. Then he drops Ganugly in the TVS Cup. And now today he dropped Peterson at first slip.

None of the fielding positions were at point - where Kapali is very good at fielding.

To me, it points out that Kapali practices his fielding way too much at the point position and does not practice his fielding at other places at all.

But generally, the fielding at the slips have to be improved. The fielders are also not aware of where they should stand at the slips at what kind of wicket. I hope that Dave Whatmore can rectify this vital fielding position of the players especially since he was a very good name for his fielding at slips.

Default Fahmida

Players don't practice fielding at different positions. There are the general field drills that everyone does, like pick ups and throws and catches, stuff like that. And then the better catchers who are expected to stand at slips, gully, point, short extra cover do a lot of close catching to sharpen their reflexes. And then the captain places fielders according to their strengths. Like fielders with good throwing arms (usually the fast bowlers) get placed at third man/ fine leg etc.

If you notice Kapali's fielding at point, you will see that what he is good at is ground fielding. He hasn't taken too many blinders of catches. He just has to practice his catches.
