Default Sujon\'s captancy

I think now it is time for us to seriously think of Sujon's captancy. The positive things that I have read with Sujon's captancy is that he suggests to bowlers about the weaknesses and strengths of a set batsman (source: Bangladesherkhela.com).

Sujon as a player in test match cricket, is not a brilliant player, but he is also not the worst bowler. He just didn't have the luck going his way. For example - umpire Billy Bowden did not give Rudolph out in the 1st test match when he could have given the decision in favor of Sujon. The second example was in today's game - when Kapali dropped Peterson off Sujon's bowling. Later Ashraful took the wicket of Peterson.

But we will have to wait and see how Sujon plays as a batsman. In my mind, he has already taken 2 wickets (1 + 1) in 2 test matches at home as the captain. He was not as enthusiastic in fielding, and have also dropped a catch at first slip in the 1st test off Kapali's bowling (Dippenaar was the batsman on that occasion), But if Rafique is prepared to give some credit to Sujon for his superb bowling performance today, then I would also give Sujon some credit for the bowling changes.

I wish that the batsman Sujon can be a little more responsible for at least until a specialist batsman is at the other end.

I think the only way to justify keeping Sujon in the team is if he can bat consistently well. If he can even score about a 30 or so in each match, I think it will be a big help, coming in at 7 or 8.

15 per innings ?

I think that's very reasonable !

No, I meant about 30 per innings. We can get genuine bowlers to score 15 per innings. Rafique's average is 20!

Whoa, that would be very high. Even our Mehrabs, Akrams aren't their.

Our genuine bowlers do do pretty well, but not always - besides Rafique maybe.

And our genuine batsmen always underperform.

This then begs the question - what is Mahmud genuinely ?

Hopefully a genuine captain !!

Default Well,

Mahmud is not going to score a 30 every single innings. But if he did it 2 out of 3 times or so, he would have an average of around 20. We can definitely expect our captain to average 20. Mehrab's average should go up if he is given an extended run. Ashraful, Kapali and Golla average in the mid to late 20s and Sumon in the mid 30s. As for Akram, there is absolutely no excuse for him to average 15 or whatever the hell his average is. Mehrab atleast has to face the new ball, Akram gets to come in at 5 and he averages 15. Thats terrible.
