Default Atahar Ali Khan adds a new dimension in cricketing commentary

In Atahar Ali Khan we have unearthed a gem of a commentator and he typied his own style when Martyn was foxed by a gem a delivery by Rafique. When Atahar said, it was gem of a delivery and Martyn was clueless it symbolised it all. Atahar Ali Khan adds a new dimension in cricketing commentary.

Bangladesh is now a force to be reckoned with. In Shahadat we have unearthed a fast bowler whose aggression puts him in one of the best in the sub-continent. Even though Bangladesh was on the verge of a defeat and it was only 3 runs away he didnt give up. He sent 3 bouncers and he was able to beat Ponting for pace and hit his helmet and to me it was immensely satisfying. His pace was good enough to clean bowl many victims in England in the practice matches but he has come a long way. Even last year many saw Tapash as a better substituition but the mere fact that the selectors picked him despite having Syed Rasel indicates that our thought processes have changed and we know how to attack.

A specialist batting coach is something we should have had long time ago.
Mashrafe is a good hitter but against Warne's flippers he needed to have been trained. Specially the tail end batsmen including Mashud will need batting lessons for each Australian bowler. I mean Australia will do the same. They will probably target Rafique for the next match and wont let him settle. Its the way they play the test match. We didnt let Warne settle in the first innings and i was so proud of our batsmen that they were probably the first group of batsmen who denied him a wicket with such expensive figures. Its not always possible to sustain that against warne because he will employ his variations.

Our team has improved a lot. I think we can beat West Indies now if we can play like this. Against Srilanka it was a different story. South Africa has one dimensional pace attack and their spin attack is all that threatening and i think we will do well against them too.

We dont need to replace any player because as a team we did so well though Ashraful's batting left a lot to be desired but his quickfire 29 suggested that he is in good touch its just that he needs stay for at least 60 deliveries and then start playing all those strokes he is so good at.

Australia will look at their mistakes and will try to rectify those. So we need to make sure we dont throw our wickets away.

So stating the obvious fact that it was a brilliant delivery makes Atahar a gem of a commentator? Like Lewis Black says - Atahar is to commentary, as KFC is to chicken. For me, the only dimension he adds is the necessity of pushing the mute button.

Atahar.....good comentrator.... must be kidding me... He seems to memorise and practice the things that he will say the next day and even his english aint that fluent. Hearing his commentry is like listening to a broken record player.

may be he is the best we got but sorry to say the best aint good enough. Cant agree with u mate.

Rafique had thrown a gem of a delivery and Atahar said it was a gem of a delivery- that's make Atahar an excellent commentator!!

Any explaination what made that delivery so special ?

I hardly ever heard any technical analysis of the match from Atahar. All I hear, most of the time, from him is this guy is good, and that guy is not so good.

In addition to all that's been spkoken of, Athar talks with an Indian accent. Don't like him all that much...but I guess in the land of the blind, one eyed man is the king.

I think Shamim Ashraf Chowdhury is much, much better. He should a get a contract as well.

Our bowling is satisfactory but our batting is inadequate. So we need an specialist batting trainer, who can teach our batsman a bit of technique. Another thing to look at is our bowlers batting technique. Our bowlers were getting with little or no runs at all. Thats something we need to look at.

Atahar talks with an Indian accent? That's bogus, man. What accent do you speak in?

Athar is far better than other Bangladeshi commentators. His english is not that bad. He will get better and better. He will grow with team Bangladesh. I wish him well.

Have you guys noticed how the Sub-Continent commentators including Wasim Akram, Ravi Shastri and all the heavyweights pronounce "E" as "A" ... like "Axtra Cover" ......

common guys why on eartht we r after Athahar Ali now!! He is doing quite well job here. And I can't find much differences of his english than other Indian-subcont. commentators. Are you kdding just expecting that he should speak accent like American ot British. He is really fine here. He is a man who is trying hard to represent the team from of others that Bd compatible in world cricket arena.

First of all the ball which took Martyn out of the crease was not bad at all. If Athahar says it was a good ball or a magnificant ball then I won't blame him!

Secondly its obvious he doesn't speak in british or american accent for sure because he is a bangladeshi by birth. And why do you blame him for his english? He didnt go to any english medium school like u guys do.

To be a commentator one must know cricket well and in most cases the priority is-you have to have a playing background. Shamim Ashraf's english is good but he was not a cricketer. But to you guys he has a better cricket knowledge than Athahar's.

So stop bashing Athahar.
