Shahriar Nafees threatens Australia..!
Quote:
But as Ponting's men celebrated a dramatic, three-wicket win in their enthralling inaugural Test in Dhaka, Bangladesh warned it now had the belief to pull off one of cricket's greatest upsets in the second Test, starting on Sunday.
"This time they got chances, next time we will not give them any chances," said Bangladesh's century maker Shahriar Nafees, who set up a stunning 427-run first innings on the opening day. "If we can repeat this performance, why not?"

I also liked this positive attitude of Bashar:
Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar, whose team has announced itself to the world in this match and created huge excitement in his nation, said the result answered critics who have questioned their Test status.
"It's not nice to hear those questions all the time, but for us, as cricketers, it's best if we answer those questions by performing at the ground. This is a good Test to answer this question but we need to continue this," Bashar said.
"We discussed it between ourselves and told ourselves that this is our standard. We're not doing anything unbelievable, we can play like this, we have the ability. We may not have won the match but the fact that we pushed them to five days and dominated two days is exciting for us and shows how much we have improved."

Yeah, "if we can repeat this performance". I hope this time our team will show some consistency. If we can repeat this performance in 2nd test, we will start believeing that we can beat any test team like we believe in ODIs.

I am really impressed with the attitude of Shahriar Nafees and I beleive one day he will be leading Bangladesh with lots of guts.
He is never satisfied with his efforts and always wants to do better, that's real maturity in thinking.

well, truth is, SN was cramped for space in second innings and couldnt play well. unless he comes out with a better batting strategy, he wont be as effective.
but ofcourse, i like his attitude

or fall like Nafees iqbal who labelled England's spinners as ordinarry after scoring his 100 in a practice match.
I have a feeling that Shahriar Nafees just spoke out too soon, he needs to get anothe 70-80 against OZ before openning his mouth.

Perhaps "warns" is the more appropriate word.

That's part of the mental game. Aussie's and other big teams play such games all the time outside the field. What's wrong with BD/Nafis doing the same?

Nothing wrong with what SNA said, it should be noted tha he was actually asked if Bangladesh could beat Australia in the second test, given the question, what else would you expect him to say?

I think this is the first time we are seeing some fighting and aggressive (in a good way though) attitude from tigers. To me this is a very positive sign. We're thinking positively - not giving up before giving a good fight. Great mentality - keep it us tigers.

When you say "warns", it sounds co`ky. But I think the team and he is confident. Nice to see that.

I would like to see at least some improvement, espacially in 2nd innings batting. Also we need to score 400+ in first innings to prove that fatullah was not a fluke.
In any case, its great to see the positive attitude of our youngsters. It is the arogance of SN, Ash, Mash, Rajib, Aftab and the rest that is going to take us to the next level.

How many teams score back to back 400s ? Let's make our goals a little more realistic. We don't need a 400 (won't mind if we get one), what we need is two good scores of around 300+. We also need to attack the tail enders and get thm out ASAP. BD could have easily forced Australia into follow on.

if only they knew a little bit of english...*sigh*
ps : i wonder what shahadat said to ponting when they were exchanging glances :p

powerful words by Shahriar Nafees. Hope he can score another century in the second test. If that happens, Ashraful will try his best to score a century for himself, cause he likes attention I tell ya.

yes, but in all the wrong ways.

he sure does; be prepared to see him throwing his bat around like crazy, in the fear of being left out of all the glory.
if he does that, then he'll be repeating his 1st inning performance in the first test. that will be a shame, because he can, on his day, tear any bowling attack apart. let's hope he learns from his mistakes.
