You want an unbiased review, you check out third party reviews; not from the guy who actually designed and made the stuff.
There are a lot of decent reviews out there, but I liked the one on "The Verge":
http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/11/40...htc-one-review
Check out the Camera section with sample pictures from the camera.

I always check third party reviews... Not a big fan of "verge" reviews tho. However I love watching a product launch video. The idea is to read atleast 5 different reviews before one can get a good picture.
My favorite is "John rettinger" from Techno buffalo.
Anyways, bottom line, Camera lacks Mega Pixels but still is great for low light photography.

As someone who uses iPhone, BBerry, Nexus 1 and Android - I will throw my weight behind Lumia 920. It is a great piece of hardware (phenomenal phone & camera) with an outstanding modern OS (WinPho). What it lacks is ubiquity. I've got all the basic apps (50 odd) but don't have, for e.g. a AAA app or Xfinity App or Snapchat.

I've just started using Symphony W80 smartphone. Loving it so far, and feeling proud of the fact that a Bangladeshi brand is this good while being affordable (BDT 13,000).

Yep, the brand is Bangladeshi but the phone is manufactured in Shenzen, China.
SPECS. Contrary to what it says here, you can totally Skype here with the appropriate TeleTalk 3G package.

Great choice..
Build quality means a lot to me, and despite the many features provided by Samsung I dont think I would ever like to carry their plasticky product.
I know most people hate windows phone, but I am desperately waiting for Nokia Lumia 928 to come out....

Started using my iPhone 5 about a week ago. The only irritant is Google Maps being replaced but otherwise really liking it so far. Bigger screen, higher resolution and lighter mass are the biggest pluses. Definitely a worthy successor to the iPhone 4.

The new map is ok. But Google is better. You will also notice there is no compulsory YouTube app like it was up iPhone4S. But its free and even better than what it was like in old iphone's.

But now Google have launched their own Google map app so I am good. Not only that, the iOS version now comes with voice turn by turn directions. I am notoriously bad at navigation and so 'my lady' as I call the disembodied voice on the app gets me where I need to go without getting lost.
I checked out both the Galax2 and the 5 before opting for the 5. The reasons I opted to go with the 5?
- It had the right size for my palm. The Galaxy was too big for me.
- I needn't have to reinvest on new apps if I move. They both had apps that met my needs
- What sold me to upgrade from 4 to 5 was the speed - all the apps were zippity zip compared to my 4 which itself wasn't too slow
They are both fine phones and they both met my needs. In fact the 4 met my needs and I really did not have to upgrade.

anyone used or using Nokia Lumia phones? Any issues with 520,620 or 720 which would make them a bad purchase? I know the app store is small but this is intended for casual use

Only reason I'm now sort of considering HTC One over GS4 is because of Beats sound. But GS4 is pretty much has no rims on the side. It's edge free!

Dont get a Lumia unless you are planning to buy a 920...
If you are looking for cheaper smartphone with great features than I would recommend Google Nexus. The price is similar to lumia 720 and contains better specs, no bloatware and more Apps (Android)...
