I think Nokia is best for battery life point of view - lasts long. Samsung is stylist but low on battery life. I liked Sony Eriksson but never bought it.

Kabir,

get the phone unlocked in toronto. It'll cost $20+ but it'll really be worth it. Once unlocked, it will work in Bangladesh, as networks use 900 and 1800MHz frequencies.

Eastern Plaza's most trusted Cyme electronics which unlocks any and all phone models made a mess of my girlfriend's Nokia 6288 (with 3 Australia firmware) and flashed it to a Vodafone firmware 6280. As a result she couldnt use 3's 3G services afterwards on the phone. Currently I have the phone and intend using it only with GrameenPhone's EDGE internet.

Nokia 6288:

I currently use a Nokia 6233 in Bangladesh and it fulfills all my needs. It runs on 2100MHz UMTS if I'm roaming abroad, otherwise runs fine on Banglalink, Plays the radio, plays my MP3s, takes 2MP pictures, runs Opera mini once in a while. I'm using a prepaid Optus sim now, and the 3G makes using Opera mini on this phone such a pleasure.

Nokia 6233:

I am otherwise quite taken by the Nokia E65 my gf uses with Three Australia. And love the services Three gives.... streaming video, free videoconferencing and mms to 3 subscribers on weekends, etc. The best part is the phone has WLAN and with the right configuration settings can be used as a VOIP phone.

Nokia E65:

I have the option of getting an unused, locked black Nokia 6120 classic for free, which is also very nice in specs. It is almost the same specs (and size too!) as the E65 but without WLAN and VOIP, but instead has HSDPA. I've been offered either the E65 or the 6120 Classic, but have turned down both for now as neither will be fully exploited in Bangladesh, without 3G and 3G services.

Nokia 6120 classic:

I have gotten my hands on an 8GB Ipod Touch now, and have jailbroken it thanks to Mahmood bhai's suggestions. I am yet to fully explore the phone and use it though, the fingerprints on the screen really got to me. Just bought a screen protector and put it on last night, now thinking about buying a stylus from Hong Kong or ebay. Having jailbroken it, I really am looking forward to using the Touch with some productivity apps.

I honestly think that an iPhone with HSDPA, a CMOS camera for videoconferencing, and an SD-Micro slot will be the most coolest gadget ever!!

I have a Nokia 6111.. which is small and fat. So it looks like I have an extra bony process on my pelvis if I ever try to put it in my pocket.

Btw, I'm not able to open the music files I send from my computer to the phone. Says something like 'File format not supported' when I try to open them. I think I have tried to convert the file from mp3.. can't remember exactly. Does anyone know anything about this? I just want one song for a nice ringtone to replace the 'Nostalgia' I've got now.

And Iphones suck. Why anyone would pay so much for a phone confounds me. Especially one that is related to Ipod. As long as you can talk on a phone and send messages from it.. it's doing it's job.

It also benefits as you know from a huge internal 8GB memory storage instead of having to insert any memory card.

Iphone is a very classy device but the let down for me was its camera capabilities but these things differ from person to person. The appilications are very similar within these 2 phones. The downpoint for me with the n95 as you may have encountered is that its a bit chunky unlike the sleek iphone fit in your pocket; iphone also has a better interface in my opinion.

You may also want to consider maintainance as in the unlikely event of any faults, a Nokia dealer is always accessible anywhere in the world but with the Iphone I have heard it can be quite a hassle to get it repaired as you have to send it to china? Im not to sure though, but n95 8gb did it for purely because Nokia specialise in making phones as the iphone was a bit of a risk for me..

Hope thats helped you a bit..
thanks Yameen, definitely thinking more positively abt N95 now.....

Iphone will have the second version out soon with 3G and probably 16gig of flash memory.... but that wont come out by this year for sure... so no point waiting....

Sunny, what phone is this? Is it available for use on other networks too? Or is it strictly for Skype (and is skype a service provider in UK?)

Unless you have an iphone, you wont understand how much better it is than any other phone. However, I dont consider it a phone, it is a computer that has phone capability.

As far as phones go, I found the HTC touch and Blackberry pretty impressive.

I agree with Mahmood - I would have gone with the iPhone but for crappy AT&T service in San Diego.

Alright folks, I am extremely delighted to be amongst the first ones to get the iPhone 3G 16 GB. I am somewhat impressed by it. And right now I am typing this message from the iPhone. I will post my review on it sometime.

Welcome to the iphone club, I have had mine for 7 months, I use it at least 2 hours a day for non phone related use, and still impressed by it everyday.

However, to enjoy the iphone to its fullest, you have to jailbreak it, which should be out in the next week.

I just use a sony Erricson. K-something i. I am happy with it so long I can

1) Send a text message
2) Make a phone call
3) check the news when I am travelling.

Rest is irrelevant for me. Dunno what's the big deal with that iphone.

Went to get the new one after the first one. The Apple store had CMU students camping out front all night. No luck. Will try again during the week.

Please post reviews guys. Maybe we should have an iphone thread???
