Default Thanks

I have been home almost 2 full weeks now - recuperating, reading, and ruminating.

I would like to thank you all for all the good wishes and prayers that no doubt accelerated my recovery. Perhaps there is a divine being or perhaps the force of collective goodwill revitalized my neurons and awakend me from the dark.

No matter. All that matters is that I am here, I still enjoy cricket, chacha sucks and England is over-rated.

And that my friends are still here fighting all canards being bandied about by the perfidious protectors of old cricket. Don't worry - our own Lintus and Pintus will start knocking their blocks off with 100 mph+ balls.

It _is_ good to be alive . I didn't know that I was given only 15% chance and when I finally "woke" up after a month long state of induced coma, brain farts, and what not, thankfully I have no recollection of what transpired.
"The annual incidence of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage in the U.S. exceeds 30,000 people. Ten to 15 percent of these patients will die before reaching the hospital and over 50 percent will die within the first thirty days after rupture. Of those who survive, about half suffer some permanent neurological deficit" - http://www.brainaneurysm.com/
The short term (and I am hoping temporary) memory loss seems to be the main deficit. I may have lost a few grey cells here and there but my cognitive abilities seem to have generally survived unscathed. I have lost some patience - so beware. I will not suffer fools gladly and will come down like a ton of bricks.

My neurosurgeon says it is absolutely amazing that less than two months after the "incident", I am awake, walking, taking and that too in an apparently coherent manner with minimum deficits. He was as giddy as a little girl (ref SNL) and is working on a paper to submit to nejm. I am thinking of switching my nick to miracleman

Now I have a posse of physicians and specialists caring for my every whim. Opthalmologist, neurologist, neurosurgeons, various breeds of therapists (speech, nerological, occupational, physical...) and what not.

"What do you think this is - brain surgery? Oh wait, it is!"

Ok, I have rambled enough as it is. I urge all of you, especially those who are of my age, to have a complete physical - including getting bloodwork, chemical profile, x-rays, ct scans .... after all, we are NOT getting any younger.

STOP smoking - that is what almost killed me. Compounded by the fact that I was type 2 diabetic. I was a walking museum of all sorts of ailments - hidden amongst them was a subarachnoid aneurism that decided to pop.

And most importantly marry the woman you love. She will save your life.

By any chance, did you pay extra to the health care providers, formarly known as doctors, to clean up and sharpen the neurons? May I have their contacts please?

Anyway, I'm glad that someone else will be sharing blames with me for all those warnings, bannings and what not

Cats_eye and his bhojon roshik Bhuri.

Here is my advice cats_eye:

There still time to change your lifestyle as Dr. Z mentioned.... there is more in life than always thinking about consuming unhealthy foods you know.

Try to drink one glass of Keral-la-ka juice every morning... stop smoking biris and cigarette its worst than occational ganga smoking .... and don't drink beer.... instead drink red wine (if your religion allows).

Don't run, jog or climb stairs its too risky.... instead walk a mile in slow pace. Its more appropriate to your age.

btw welcome back Dr. Z , you remind us life is short.... but it can be even shorter if we don't take care of our health.....

First of all ... Welcome back!

And secondly, fantastic to see that all your mental faculties are working full-steam (Re- Chacha comment).

And last but not the least, best wishes for the future!

Hey guys - ease off from all these sentimental and melodramatic stuff. I have offered thanks as I felt I need to and there is no need repeat this whole exercise by thanking me for the thanks. I am here and I am in a mood.

A quick segue of a response respond to Sauron:

Some steam is always seeping out - steam colored short term memory. Now I was not sure whether your comment had a hint of sarcasm in it, but even I know that chacha is now retired and living the good life in his "villa in st martin's"

If it is the former then consider this a verbal slap in the face for trying to insult your elders and betters (not sure of the first and very sure of the second) -

Truth be told, I was not sure who the resident whipping boy for Bangladesh cricket is these days - so I wanted to play it safe and go with the tried and true.

Dear DR. Z,

Welcome back. Thanks to Allmighty for brining u back. We all missed you. I won't smoke. I also stopped too much nagging and also trying not to insult elders and betters. But not sure the last advice you gave will be true.
Great to have you back. We need your presence in banglacricket.

Haha, oh man I think lot of our wives here wont save us

Strong brain - fought well.

I feel like testing Zunaid's short term memory?

question 1 : What is the name of the lady who can't get enough of you in BC?
question 2: Who won the WC 2006 Final (don't cheat)
question 3: What was question 1

Answer: 1) NO you didn't forget her name.. There is no such woman... haha
2) Brazil (I am not kidding)
3) see question 1

No Sarcasm at all ... true and spontaneous joy at knowing that you think (as I do too) chacha sucks

May be you disclosed this fact in the past or may be you kept it well hidden, I just did not know you were as smart as I am ... your chacha comment just assured me of that .

Btw, after I read my post again, I do see how you might think I could have been sarcastic. I assure you, I am not such an @-hole to be sarcastic in that manner. Being a smoker myself, I am just happy to see another smoker (possibly an ex-smoker now) survive the curse.

Cheers.

PS - Whipping Boy? Tried and true???? I'll let you slide this time ...

Great to have you back mate. The place wasn't the same without you.

Time for a holiday mate. Recharge the batteries. Take the missus' too.

You've been blessed with a second chance at everything. Use it.

Couple of months ago, I read a story in a newspaper about a woman from Liverpool who lost her natural scouser accent after suffering from a brain haemorrhage and ended up with completely different Jamaican accent. She is suffering from identity crisis now.
Due to my poor English spelling habit, I decided to carry out some experiments based on the above story. My initial idea was that if that liverpudian lady suffered a brain haemorrhage in particular part of the brain, obviously there has been some stimulation surrounding that area which led me to believe that stimulating a particular type of neurone cells in certain brain area could dramatically increase the potency of neurones and subsequently could improve my English spelling.
So I bang particular part of my head gently against the wall every day in order to stimulate neurones (my idea is quite crazy, so I would not advise anyone to follow). And I will let you guys know if it pays dividends in the near future.

Scientifically there is a little chance of having a potent brain as you become older and the neurones start to shrink.

Delighted to see Dr. Z is back and recovering well.

Don't do too much head-butting otherwise your head will look like this
