he seems talented from that clip but if you walk through any field in dhaka and in many parts of bangladesh, you'd see a lot of similarly talented younsters playing. more often than not, the other players are totally rubbish and so these kids appear to be brillaint. 99% of the tricks he was performing would get his legs broken in a thousand pieces in a professional match!

besides, a lot of 9 year olds get signed up various premiership clubs, very few make it to the highest level.

the sunday league matches which are played all over uk in public fields, usually in cities, seems to be the graveyard for most of the kids who did not make it as a professional footballer. here you see the likes of lee trundle every day however, they soon get the skills kicked out of them! if you beat a guy he will make sure you don't have the legs to go past him next time round. i played sunday league football for many years and the tales from games doesn't read pleasant reading. these guys take themselves a little too seriously!

Yea dude, stating the obvious really. I don't think major football clubs spend time scouting the streets of third world countries and signing up just about anyone who can do tricks. That's why the other kids don't make it to the Manchester United academy. It's by no means a guarantee they will turn into professional footballers, but it has to begin somewhere.

I'm sure everyone already knows that. It's a more of a mental victory, you see.

LOL loser.

It's a charity match, it's not about the trophy. It's about beating Chelshit and getting off to a confident start before the league starts.

it is more about confidence than anything else but the loser takes home more of an advantage in the knowledge that they know which areas they have to improve on.

Not a ManU fan, but really dislike Chelsea and their mercs. Looking forward to Tevez, CR and Giggs blowing everyone away with their speed and technical prowess.

Yes I think so. He's already trained with his team-mates, and the deal should completed in the next 24 hours. Can't wait to see him in action.

I don't think he is playing today. We need to win and get off to a fast start like last year.

ManU did not look too sharp up front without Rooney and CR. ManC played well, and the fact that luck was on there side helped a bit. Now on to the real match, go Liverpool, beat them mercz !!!

It was a bad result and City were lucky to get a goal from nothing. So far in all 3 matches United dominated possession and created more opportunities, but they are lacking the killer instinct. Neither Tevez nor Hargreaves is fully match fit. Nani is doing well but Anderson, Neville, Saha, Solskjaer are still recovering from injury. Rooney is out for 2 months and Ronaldo's 3 match ban isn't helping. I don't expect it to be a cakewalk, but there’s no need to be distraught.

Season 1995/1996 - United begun their league with a 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa. By January Newcastle were 14 pts clear on top of the table. United fought hard and reduced the gap in the second half of the season to win the league with a 4 pts lead. They proved that the worst start is not necessarily the end of the world. United went on to win the FA Cup to become the first English club to repeat the double.

All is not gloomy for the Red Devils. United youth team beat Juventus to lift the Champions Youth Cup. So there’s something to smile about.

early season form should not be taken into when making predictions about eventual league position, however, as alan hansen states, the first seven or eight games could certainly lose you the premiership title.

manchester city has been rather lucky in all their matches, however, they are a safe bet for europe as long as their defensive duo of dunne and richards stay fit. newcastle might be another team in the same mould and i expect both these teams to compete for the fourth champion's league spot alongside arsenal, villa and possibly spurs.

united would be really pushed this season by chelsea and liverpool. i don't personally feel prudent to make predictions at this stage of the season but they need those half chances from scholes and tevez to go in. there are a lot of goals in this team but much depends on ronaldo and rooney staying fit. there is also the possibility that premiership defenders would have learnt how to defend against ronaldo. he effectively delivered the premiership to united last season.

Finally, Man Utd's season is properly underway, albeit with some controversy.

Excellent goal by Nani though. I'm really excited by this guy. He doesn't seem to score any "ordinary" goals.

Yes, it was a marvelous strike by Nani.

United is still struggling to finish goalscoring opporunities, hopefully that will change with the return of Saha next week.

OGS has retired. Hopefully Saha will be back this weeknd. Rememeber, it was him, who laid the founadtion for the League win last year with a superb first half of the season til he got injured. Roy would love to win his first game vs United though..
