Oh Thank you for sharing this information with us....I am pretty sure in BD ppl are celebrating the sorrow and I think my dad will also know about it...But don't know if he remembers today's date....eventhough he was a hardcore Awamileague supporter back in BD back in his college days....

Same day it was Prime Minister and BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s birthday too. Some people have celebrated that too.

Sad that we can't even talk about the murder of the one man who had the greatest role in the creation of Bangladesh without petty bickering. And kuddos to BTV for playing the lets-pretend-this-never-happened game so well.

Sorry brother. Didn’t mean to hurt any of your feeling. I do respect Bonghabondhu Sekh Mujibur Rahman and also want the justice of his murder. May Allah bless his soul and others who were murdered on that night.

Its maybe weird but co-incident that prime minister and BNP chief Khaleda Zia’a birthday also on the same date. Her followers celebrate it when many others mourn for Banghabondhu. I never knew about her birthday when I was back home but last few years I see it on newspapers. August 15th is also Independence Day of India.

Yes, Moderators can remove my post if its so disgraceful.

Dude whats your problem? All he just said is Khaleda Zia's birthday falls on the same day is Bongobondhu's death. Thats real fact and if real facts makes you loose your sleep than sorry you live in a different planet.

And yes, many BNP supporters do celebrate Khaleda Zia's birthday and by doing so no one is disgracing the assasination of Bongobondhu, as long as they are not celebrating the murder which is a different story. Thats another fact if you can digest it.

My homage to Bongobondhu and his family. RIP.

Anyway, my mom's birthday was also on 15 August.

I always knew Khaleda's b-day was on same day but Awami supporters claim that it's not. Last time I checked they said it was on September, now it's January?

actually, 15th of Augurs IS NOT Khaleda's birthday...

so far from 3 different sources, she got birthdays in the following days:

Aug 15th ( ironically that co-incides with Bongobondhu murder)
Aug 19th ( in biography when she became prime minister)
Sept 5th ( According to Education board)

"The Independent newspaper on Tuesday quoted an education board letter to the Information Ministry which said, ``According to our records, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief was born on September 5, 1946, and she appeared in the school final examination in 1961
(source: http://salamdhaka.blogspot.com)

now if she celebrates her bday to coincide with Shiekh Mujib's death, that is a really dirty, stupid ugly politics which offcourse u can expect from the Bangladeshi politicians.

sorry Tutul for misunderstanding u, i just got really annoyed after reading your one liner which is a bit foolish of me, but yh nuff said on this matter...

May Allah bring Peace upon Banghabandhu and his family...

All I can say is Most of us have a 2nd bday because of the school system? Am I right?
I don't know where u got the 19th date and no one says anything about that. Where ever i hard the issue being discussed they all say she have 3 badya one is 15th one 19th and the other by certificate but when i ask the same people where they found the 19th one they can't answer maybe sydny bhai can answer me. I know you mentioned in biography but that could be typo, have anyone came forward and said that they have the proof from some where about the date(I am thinking somebody must have recorded the interview while making the biography ...)
I am not trying to attack anyone just trying to pursue the issue here.

"While her real birthday is April 21, Queen Elizabeth also enjoys an official birthday—this year on June 17 -- when the fickle English weather is deemed more favourable for outdoor festivities."- newAgeBD

If Queen Elizabeth can have two birthdays why not Queen Khaleda? Thats not the issue. The issue is choosing Aug 15 as her latest official birthday sometime just after AL came to power 1st time afrer Sheik Mujib's death .
