Default President IazUddin as Caretaker Chief Advisor -Your Views

Awami League has refused to accept KM Hasan or MK Aziz.
BNP/Jamaat has refused to accept Mahbubul Amin or Hamidul Haque.

Govt. has taken written declaration from Hamid last night that he is not going to take charge in a controvercial situation.

It is declared that Chief Advisor of the caretaker government will take charge at 8:00 PM local time even though who will take charge is not declared yet. The government has invited the political parties to the handover ceremony ... but AL is not invited.

It is almost obvious that the President himself is going to take charge as the chief of Caretaker Govt. This is definitely going to become another controvercial decision by the ruling BNP. It appears that they are very much desperate to maintain their stand. Things don't look very good at all.

We are definitely heading towards more political Chaos.

Its better if Iazuddin can get neutral advisors and can control the situation in the country using Military.

The reason AL declined KM Hasan, BNP is declining Mahmudul Amin and Hamidul Huq.

Politicians are writing and violating constituion according to their will. Shame !!!!

Yeah, I watched it live. Only Iazuddin has taken oath, didn't hear name of any advisors.

IIRC, head of caretaker govt takes oath first and the advisors take oath later separately.

I don't know, I wasn't paying much attention (was doing other stuff while watching). But I definitely didn't see anyone taking oath except Iazuddin.

The country is pushed towardspolitical unrest again... the president should have waited and tried to find a neutral person.

AL seems to extend quiet support to Iazuddin in a surprise move. They expect Iazuddin to prove that he is acceptable.

According to BD News

This is not really an end to anything. It is only the beginning of more chaos. Iazuddin is probably the MOST GUTLESS president in BD history... and has been a well-known puppet of the former BNP govt. The role of a Chief Advisor demands ultimate self-determination.

AL will probably now force for reform in the Election Comission and Voter's list.. both of which have been highly criticized by everyone. I say.. the game has just begun.

May be so, but do consider this he's had a heart-attack and surgery recently so he's not in a very fit condition to show his guts. This is also why AL is in 'quiet observation' mode. I can only hope that as a president should the situation demand him to tackle the political chaos with 'force', he will do so without fear.

Isnt that Iajuddin Ahmed was one of the TWIN_PRESIDENT couples of months ago while he was ill. Some section of his own party (BNP) wanted to kick him out and replace him with Jamiruddin Sharker, the other TWIN_PRESIDENT....if I am not wrong? If my memory does not betrays me (as it is prone to), AL asked to instill IAhmed to his post. (Please correct me........). This might be one reason why AL now opted to observe his work: that is who he is going to pick as the advisers, how he handles the EC and its crappy jaggernauts........

I am optimistic about Iazuddin but lot depends on the advisory board.

He should select capable and neutral persons as advisors.

I am not optimistic about this situation anymore. I hope Iazuddin's action will prove me wrong.

I am really "Hotash" but cant blame IAhmed.......he should have tried every other options before resuming the post: read this...
http://www.thedailystar.net/2006/10/30/d6103001085.htm
But chaos of AL/BNP/Jam made all these happen.

I hope he would earn faith of AL when selecting the 10-advisers. Are they been already picked up?

I am really surprised by AL that they have not rejected IAhmed. It is welcoming that their senses are coming back.

I doubt thats true. US Ambassador made it and Hasina couldn't go. Thats just lame. They just didn't want to go, cause it didn't happen the way they wanted it to happen.

AL demands are not probably true. All diplomats, former chief of Care Taker government Justice Habibur Rahman, editors of national dailies and business leaders attended and they knew nothing or didn't get invitation is lame excuse.

At last they have not rejected I Ahmed most probably due to the support of US and UK towards him.
