13 BD Bowlers with Suspect action
Unlucky 13
Sports Reporter
Thirteen bowlers cannot appear in the forthcoming National Cricket League and the Dhaka Premier League as their actions were deemed illegal in a report submitted by the bowling advisory committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
According to the report submitted on Thursday, Jamaluddin Babu, Wasquruni Palash, Mustaquim Raju, Monirul Islam, Kamrul Islam, Saifullah Khan, Shahriar Alam, Faisal Hossain, Rasel Khan, Ashraful Haque Khan, Imran Parvez, Yasin Arafat and Rashid Khan exceed the limit of 20 degrees and must be held under Level 2 of the illegal bowling action rule.
The committee headed by Kazi Yusa Misha however cleared left-arm spinners Ahsanullah Hasan and Elias Sunny of suspect actions while another left-armer Nadif Chowdhury informed the committee that he would refrain himself from bowling spin.

This is extremely sad for Bd cricket. I thought polash will someday compete with shahadat to be the pace spearhead on the Bd cricket team. Yasin is also a great talent to be not bowling. Report also mentions abt Nadif chowdhury refraining himself from bowling. So i guess he more a batsmen now and not a allrounder.

This kind of action of was long time due from BCB. Bit sad to see Yasin Arafat among the chulkers, I had hopes for the boy. Kamrul Islam- is he the left arm pacer from Chittagong or the offspinner-allrounder from Dhaka ?
It is smart of Nadif to refrain himself from bowling and concentrate on his batting for now. He can rectify his bowling and establish himself as a batting allrounder later in his life.

There is another thread discussing the same issue. Mods, should they be merged?

this is crazy.waskuruni was a product of the pacer hunt program.if his action was so severely flawed, why didnt the selectors of the program notice it,and took steps to correct his action?i saw names of players who are the products of age group teams.it shows the flaw in our system and lack of coaching knowledge of our local staffs.some of these players were serious candidates for the national team.now they cant even play in the domestic league.a sad waste of talents.

The list of bowlers with flawed action has been revised as recommended by BCB/ICC bowling Advisory Group. According to the revised list Waskuruni Palash's action is revised to grade 1 from grade 2. That means now he can bowl under observation. The full list can be found in the following link.

Relax.
This is a good thing, and shows that everyone is doing their job.
Bowlers actions are being checked and, if neccessary, corrected.

Right. When I was playing in Dhaka (long long long time ago), I remember we had so many chuckers even someone with limited knowledge of this could identify them. Yet the umpires would never call them and no action was ever taken.

Yup. It's a blessing in disguise. All these players are still at a very young stage of their careers and it's not mayday for them yet. The problem has been diagnosed relatively early compared to the likes of Shabbir or Shoaib. Also, this sends a warning to the aspiring young pacers and will likely cause them to re-analyze their actions just to be on the safe side come next pacer hunt. If I recall correctly, so far we've had only one pacer hunt and we're starting to reap its benefits. As a result of this announcement, all serious candidates will now be more aware of their actions. Moreover, BCB can now implement a tighter scrutiny of those with defective actions from the outset.
