13-member Bangladesh squad against Zimbabwe

Dhaka, Nov 19 (bdnews24.com) - Cricket selectors Sunday announced a 13-member cricket squad against Zimbabwe, but all-rounders Rajin Saleh and Mohammad Ashraful got no place in the preliminary team.

Bangladesh's regular skipper Habibul Bashar will lead the squad, which is for the first three matches of the five-match one-day Internationals series.

The first three matches will be held on November 30, December 3 and 5.

Squad:
Habibul Bashar (Captain), Shahriar Nafees Ahmed, Aftab Ahmed, Tushar Imran, Sakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Rafique, Mashrafee Bin Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain, Syed Russel, Farhad Reza, Mehrab Hossain jr, Khaled Mashud, Abdur Razzak.

So the surprises are:

- Rajin and Ash is out
- Tushar in
- Inclusion of injured Shahadat

Tushar in again? Hmmmm. Ash is out eventhough he scored a century. Quite a brave move by the selectors I must say. Did they realize since he scored a century, there is no chance of him scoring any runs in near future?

What extra tushar has shown to be in the team? i am not aginst the inclusion of tushar imran....but searching for the reason of including him.........there must be some reason to consider tushar ahead of Ashraful and Rajin.

i personally i am not supporting the fact of dropping Ashraful.......because just before the world cup....there is no point experimenting....ASH surely will go to world cup........so before the world cup against ZIM is the best chance for him to come back in form in international cricekt.

I also saw the same news at Channl-i news. For the 20/20, SN is the captain and there are some new faces there.

i liked the drop-outs of Ash and Rajin Saleh. Even though Ash scored a century, the very next innings ge got out cheaply. Rajin simply does not belong to the ODI team. I think Tushar Imran should have been given some more chances.

Mehrab will most likely open with SN. The kid just missed a century yesterday for 2/3 runs.

Good luck to my favorite team- go tigers, go!!

A bold move by our selectors I must say. Its very necessary to send message everyone that performance is the only criteria to be selected in the national team.

I have been saying the same thing that 'because just before the world cup....there is no point experimenting' for quite some time, and yet our selectors are continuing to include new players for quite some time.

My opinion is that Sakib, Forhad Reza - they should not be playing for the National Team let alone Mehrab Junior just before the World Cup, and yet, after including both Sakib and Forhad, after their successful performance against Zimbabwe, selectors were encouraged to include Mehrab Junior as well!

I think Tushar Imran has been getting in the team continuously only because of his performances for the 'A' team on almost all the recent A tours.

And he's being continuously dropped from the National team because of his non-performance for the National team.

So you want JO, Rajin, Ashraful to continue in the national side just because of world-cup coming ahead despite their continuos sucking. What will you get from world cup with JO, Ashrafool in the team and not get with Sakib, Reza, Mehrab?

Pointless move. The selectors are playing with Ash and will probably destroy his career.

First, they have shifted the batting position and promised to give sufficient opportunity. Their patience lasted for only two matches. Ahead of worldcup Zim series is the best chance for Ash to get back in form. He scored a century in the last match played before the selection and he is dropped.

If they think of dropping Ash. I hope they will stick to the decision for a long period of time. Ash should not be included in the world cup team. There is no point bringing him back just before the world cup with another batting position and create more pressure. It is helping no one. If they think Ash is not worthy for the national team. Keep him out for at least one to two years or for good.

Experimenting is good but too much experimenting never bring anything good for the team.

All team line up:

Shahriar Nafees, the opening batsman, will lead Bangladesh in it's first ever Twenty20 International, against Zimbabwe at Khulna. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced the squads for the first three one-dayers, the Twenty20 international, and the warm-up one-dayer against the touring Zimbabweans.

Habibul Bashar will lead the BCB President's XI in the warm-up one-dayer at Savar on November 26 and for the first three one-dayers. However, he was omitted from the squad for the Twenty20 international as was Khaled Mashud, the wicketkeeper. Mohammad Ashraful, the dashing middle-order batsman, was left out of all three squads.

The one-day series begins at Khulna on November 30, with the second and third matches scheduled for Bogra.

One-day squad Habibul Bashar (capt), Shahriar Nafees, Khaled Mashud, Aftab Ahmed, Mohammad Rafique, Tushar Imran, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Syed Rasel, Saqibul Hasan, Farhad Reza, Mehrab Hossain Jr

Twenty20 international Shahriar Nafees (capt), Aftab Ahmed, Saqibul Hasan, Nazmus Sadat, Mohammad Rafique, Mohammad Rafique, Nadif Chowdhury, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shahadat Hossain, Abdur Razzak, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tapash Baishya, Mehrab Hossain Jr

BCCB President's XI Habibul Bashar (capt), Mehrab Hossain Jr, Nadif Chowdhury, Nazmus Sadat, Mahmudullah Riyad, Farhad Reza, Nazmul Hossain, Tapash Baishya, Tapash Baishya, Marshall Ayub, Musharaf Hossain Rubel, Ziaur Rahman

I think its a good idea to have the young kids (Farhad, Sakib and Mehrab) playing this series... and the main reason would be world cup...

they are certainly to be included in the main 15 or 17 in the side for wc, and this series against Zim would certainly give me the extra confidence they need to get ready for the big occasion. Based on their performance so far, these boys needs to play as much as they can...

practise makes it better...

About Ash..oh well...
dont wanna go to that boring chapter again...

Ash always play well after he is dropped. Look at his stats in the first series after his return in other 2 or 3 times. So I do not think it would be a problem for worldcup. But I was looking at the inclusion of TI. He is a good A team player but simply do not have it for national team. They could check other option. How about giving Rokon another chance
I know Masud is certainity for WC. But for god's sake try the 2nd w/k. I do not care whether it is Mushfiq, Sagir or Shahin. this would also mean that Masud would stop his test cricket batting in one day.

I like the team, but i wasn't expecting them to drop Ash from the squad. It's nice to keep him in the squad, if our middle order fails he is good replacement. But i am not ok with Ash opening, I just hope they will pick five genuine bowlers this time for change, MM, SR, SH, MR and AR, would be nice to see.

I can't understand how Rajin Saleh has been dropped from ODIs. He should be Nafees' opener with the great ODI average that he has. Not too many Bangladeshis have an ODI average of over 20.00 ... he happens to be one of the very few.

Maybe they're just experimenting? :-S

I'm happy about Nazmus Sadat in the Twenty20 ... there has been a lot of hype about him. Maybe we'll see a new Shahriar Nafees?

The question in other thread: what you mean by form. In what sense tushar has better form than ash or rajin?

I'm only surprised that they did not include alok. it would be a perfect (!)team if he was included, coming from this idiot bunch of selectors.
