U19 Challenge Trophy 2007
BCB has primarily selected 67 players for U19 Challenge Trophy 2007. Do you guys know anything about this U19 Challenge Trophy? I'm wondering when is it gonna start? I don't know anything about except the following link.

Now, I am confused, at the begining of the media release its mentioning the source as BCB and at the end BCCB.
I really don't know which one is correct. Heard that cabinet decided to go back to BCB when cricket board proposed the name as Cricket Bangladesh. Can anyone shed more light ?

Not a lot, some of them, at best, got some ocassional exposures at NCL or PCL. Anyway, here is my assumptions about some players that I gathered from different match reports-
Mahmudul Hasan: He was the captain of the U/17 team, one down batsman.
Rumman Islam: He was the main pacer for the U/17 team, has good height.
Nadimuddin Mintu & Mithun Ali: Main contenders for the keeper-batsman position. Mintu has the advantage of being a left hander
Tapash Ghosh & Raihan Anas: Likely ones to be the main spinners for the U/19 team. Both have few NCL matches under their belts.
Shuvashis Roy & Mohammad Azim: Pacer hunt discoveries, Shuvashis was recorded bowling at 80 mph.
Amit Majumdar: He is been around for a while, attacking left-hand batsman.
Over all, they probably got better fast bowling prospects than previous bunches did (I sincerly hope that is the true case).

Finally name changed to BCB
From BDNews
Quote:
Dhaka, Jan 13 (bdnews24.com) - The Board of Control for Cricket in Bangladesh (BCCB) has been renamed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) , a gazette notification said.
The government has changed the name of BCCB to BCB under Section 20 of the National Sports Council (NSC) Act 1974, said a BCB press release Saturday.
It added that the gazette notification took effect on December 27 in 2006.
After being elected in 2005, the incumbent committee, backed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party, brought major changes to the constitution of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, renaming it Cricket Bangladesh.
But, as per the NSC Act 1974, this change of name requires endorsement from the parliament.
The then cabinet disagreed with the move and renamed the board as the Bangladesh Cricket Board instead of the Board of Control for Cricket in Bangladesh.

Red will be my team.
Tapash Ghosh got three wickets for Brothers today, is he going to ditch the premier league now to play in this tourny ? Mohammad Shakil and Mohammad Azim also got club contracts, I believe.

Mohammad Azim (Partex) also got three wickets today. He already has experience playing for Dhaka. He should be another auto selection (besides Tapash Ghosh) for the U/19 team without playing in this tourny.

Any update on the tourny ?
My guess- they postponed it to let Tapash, Azim, Shakil, Hamid, Nadimuddin, etc to play in the premier league.

Wondering if BCB has yet selected the next U/19 team.

So many of these names sound unfamiliar. Where's McInnes when we need him the most?
