Default The only thing Rasel needs to do to outclass Taposh and Sharif

Guys,
Rasel only needs to get more pace in his bowling. For that he has go to do gym everday n excersice hard to b more fast than hw much he is now.

If he does this he will surely overcome his competitors Taposh n Sharif because Rasel bowling line n length is much better than Taposh n Sharid but pace wise he lacks.

If Rasel adds more pace to his bowling for sure selectors will pik him up...

Its all up to Rasel to wrk hard...i hope Rasel realises this....n wrk hrd...to get back...coz odawise taposh n sharif will b dominating...for 3rd pace bowling option...

guys..put ur opinions....

undoubtedly an increase in pace wud place rasel in the top (even over shahadat i guess). but how do u step up ones pace? I dont think working out day and night helps that explicitly. Timing of delivery is one of the key for speed (without compromising the swing of course). need a specialized pace bowling coach if you ask me. that will not only help rasel but also 'groom' bowlers like waskuruni polash

p.s: outclassing taposh & sharif ?? isnt rasel already ahead with his Grameen phone ad?

Question is, does rasel has a variable register at his back that u can turn clock wise to increase the speed?

ya it is not easy to gain pace. infact can u come up with an example that a bowler has increased pace significantly in international cricket? on the contrary you will find reverse is true, bowlers tend to lose pace once they grow older. though pacers can increase their speed slightly by change in runup, action or point of delivery, being an incredible hulk from gym lessons wont increase pace much i think.

i rank russel above taposh anyday. if sharif can actually do that reverse swing he will be valuable. but i cant find the logic of putting taposh in. everytime he runs in u feel he will give boundary away, too erratic.

That's too hard on Tapash. If I use the same yardstick of yours then Mash made us loose a game with ZIM. Remember that six in the last over!!

i think the ball swings less at a higher pace...which is prolly why rasel gets the amount of movement he does. of course there is other components cuz mash can swing it, whereas tapash cant.

reverse swing requires higher pace...AFAIK

does anyone know more about the relationship between pace and traditional swing??

true. very true. its more than just the muscles and the workouts i am sure of that. ofcourse they improve it somewhat. but just to an extent. well even if russell starts working out, he will never be as tall as shoaib or as strong as him. i guess the technique is more important.

well...i dont know. for some reason taposh and russll to me seems all the same. the only difference i find between them is one is a left hander while the other one is a right hander. taposh is better than russell in terms of his batting while russell is better than taposh because of his swinging ability and because he is a left hander, it gives a variation in our bowling.

FIrst of all, I truly believe that being able to generate pace must come naturally...and going to the gym and working out will only keep him fit. I just can't figure what correlation LK found b/w pace and gym!!! Good idea, but lacks proof. So lets drop it

Second, Shoaib has only pace, but lacks control over the ball. Yes sometimes pace is what's needed, it's also the swinging ball that you need to victimize specialist batsmen. Ballers with pace and no control can only bless the opponent with 4s and 6s (given the batsmen facing the bowler are specialist batsmen).

And finally, I don't think there's any correlation b/w pace and swinging ball pre se. Although, there is a relationship b/w pace and reverse swinging balls.

true. as discussed many time before. pace is not the ultimate thing in fast bowling. there is more to it. wasim akram never had the pace shoaib can generate. but anyway one who understands what cricket is will agree without any kind of argument that wasim was much more better than shoaib. fast bowling is just not throwing the bowl hard at the batsman. its an art. many people call, spin bowling an art. but pace bowling is also another kind of art. you are mixing the pace with different kinds of swing. thats what makes you a better pace bowler.
as kabir bhai as mentioned, just bowling fast without control is useless. u got to have the control buddy. or else either u r going to be giving a lot of extras or the batsman are just gonna have fun playing your bowl cuz they just need to somehow contact your bowl with the bat and thats it, the bowl will just shoot to the boundary line.
well gym is necessary not for only russell but for the whole team. as stated previously, its needed to stay fit.

A Pacer Generate his/her Pace from
1. His/Her Wing Muscle (Jointing Point of Backbone and Arm).
2. Suitable Action.
3. Style of Gym
4. Food Habit

If Rassel Wants to Increase Pace He needs to Concentrate on Those Area. He Needs to be Taken Care Properly. He Need a Standard Bowling Coach. Unfortunately Bangladesh Do Not Have That Kind of Coach Yet. Hope In Near Future We Will Have. Rassel Can be Trained under The Supervision of National Team Coach or Physio. But Do They Have That Time?

Tapash is Ahead because of His Experience and Sharif is Ahead Because of His Pace. Rassel will Be Better one than Both of Them, if He Can Generate More Pace.

There are Some Pacer Whose Pace Increased According to Age (Ajit Agarkar of India). Anyone can Take the Exampl of Irfan Pathan but That is Because of a Wrong Treatment of Management. They Bound Irfan Pathan to Concentrate on Batting. To Continue with Enough Speed A Bowler Must Need to Work Hard. It is Not Easy for Shoib Akhtar or Brett Lee to Continue with That Pace. Shoib is Not Fit Enough, Thats Why he Become Injured Maximum Time. Brett Lee is an Australian Bowler, So He is Bound to Be Fit. That is One of The Difference in Pakistani Managment and Australian Management.

When You Start at 17-18 Years Your Pace is Lower and A Pacer Generate Maximum of His Pace in the Age of 25-30. Mashrafee and Shahdat will be More Quick When They will be in the Age of 25-30 and When They will be More Experienced. It Goes for Tapash, Sharif, Nazmul, Talha too.

Have a Nice Time.

For those of you who want to know a little bit more about the tricks in fast bowling, watch this documentary on Wasim Akram. Watch from the second minute to the 8th minute. You can find the documentary here: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?doc...&q=wasim+akram

I'm posting this to bring up the underlying issues, not for changing the discussion by showing Wasim Akram's talent. And who else can tell you more about swinging the ball?

If anything at all, after watching this you should realize how difficult it is to bowl such deliveries...and then we can appreciate some of our talents

Do we really need to have a thread for this? I mean who ever getting into team the reason is that he deserves it according to his current form.

Rasel 18 933 654 26 4/22 4/22 25.15 4.20

Tapash 51 2645 2040 71 6/26 6/26 28.73 4.62

Mortaza 52 2417 2267 56 4/16 4/16 40.48 5.62

It's quite possible to increase a bowler's speed using a specialised training programme to build up the bowler's trunk, core strength and fast twitch muscle fibre. It's done in every decent academy around the world.

Whether those in charge of our boys have the expertise to oversee something like that, I don't know.

Why in the world did they take rasel out of the team? He is so economical and a great player in the one day arena. He has played very well in last few series. You can't omit somebody based on domestic performance if he maintained high standards in the international arena.

hey guys, this is my 1st post, dont no why its taken so long!!! ive read with interest about gaining pace by going to the gym. i can say that it is achievable. a couple of years ago i was proberly bowling 60mph, nowt specail. but then went to a gym and i can clock a quicker speed than rasel if i push myself, and consistanly bowl 70mph, quick for 18 yrs old!!
personally im happy tapash is back, i saw him when bangladesh came to england and he has an excellent slower ball and bowls quite fast.

Welcome to BC Polish Express. So I guess you play cricket in England. Is it any serious game (since you have clocked your speed) or just armature stuff? Yeah its pretty fast for an 18 year to bowl constantly in that speed. good going but why PolishExpress though?
