An Apology To Martin Williamson
dear martin
i on the behalf of all the members of bangla cricket would like to offer our sincere appolgises about the way that we shared our frustration on the lack of coverage on todays ODI involving Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, we have allways appreciated cric info's efforts as a whole on giving us brilliant coverage on our beloved bangladesh cricket team in the last few years and will all hope that it will continue for many years to come as we see the rise of the bangldesh cricket team to the top of the icc rankings
i know that some of our members laid the critisizm on thick but we were only showing our passion for the game which is partly to do with the frustation of bangladesh not playing much international cricket this year, your reasons for the lack of coverage were vailed nd the whole formum members can understand tthe difficulties of sending someone to zimbabwe due to there strong regulations about visa's etc, we hope that this problem will be ractified as quickly as possible and that for the next one day international we will be able to follow our team whilst they thrash zimbabwe in this world cup warm up series
i sencerialy hope that no offence was caused or to make you feel unappraciated for all the work you put in to what is definitly the best cricket web site on the net, thank you for taking the time to reespond to our concerns and good luck for the rest of the year as the exciting world cup draws ever closer
your sincerly pilot fan
i invite any other member to add there name in singing this letter, thank you for your time

Zimbabwe or any network's inability to telecast this series is not Cricinfo's fault, so we should not have a go at them for not being able to provide us with more coverage. Even though they should have at least one journalist, be it a Zimbabwean sitting their in the stands to provide with us updates as it happens. Regardless, Martin has tried to explain the situation here and understandably it's largely ICC who deserves the blame for not adhereing to their own standards. So if you are angry and frustrated, write to them.

Thanks Mr. Williams for your report on Cricinfo.
You have reflected our frustations and anger over the lack of coverage of the game.
Even though it sounds like another boring BD-Zim series, nonetheless, its a ODI between two full members and the standards should be maintained accordingly, from all respective parties.
Certain points mentioned in the article are quite true and also raises my own concern about the future of the game in Zimbabwe. We ( BD) are the only international team that seems to be interested in playing against Zims, let it be home or away, but purely for the obvious reasons. But our cricket is on the uprise and in about a year or two, i find it hard to see that even we would show this amount of interest.
If the growth of our cricket continues the way it has been over the years, we are surely to be invited into few extra major international tournaments and series against the big boys of the league and slowly the whole Zimbabwe will start to phase out. Even now playing against them seems to be nothing more than bettering the records we have managed to battered over the years and put some wins under our belt. The margin is quite visible every single game and we need to move on.
Zim cricket is going through its worst nightmare and i can only hope it gets better, which would be great for the game itself we love so much.
AND for us fans, the article was a testimony of people power. From what i can gather, it was more of an apology letter directed to us frustated fans from Cricinfo and rightly so. But this was unthinkable even probably a year or so ago. No major websites would pen down thier frustations of not being able to broadcast games involving BD and Cricinfo doing rightly so in this incident is a reflection of our own ability and progress in the game. Im starting to believe that all those critisms we have made over the years about CI is finally working !!
Keep it up BC. Keep it up fans.
Soon we will be a force of nature that the rest of the world would have to deal with.

i dont think an apology was in order, since we weren't angry with martin himself. he represents cricinfo, and as a responsible editor, he felt the need to explain the lack of coverage on cricinfo's part. i'm sure he understands the frustration of a bunch of die hard fans when we miss out on a match involving bangladesh.
cricinfo's efforts are definitely appreciated. martin's presence in this forum speaks volumes on their behalf.

I felt that the main misunderstanding between MartinW and Miraz is already over even yesterday, when Miraz told that he understood Martin's points and cheered him up. Although very few of our members were expressing their frustration in an uncivilized way, which was very indecent.

I share the same feeling of Pilot fan on this. I hope you have a soft corner for the BD fans and can overlook child-like behavior and ignorance.

Thanks for the kind comments. No offence is taken as I do appreciate - and share - your frustration. This situation would never be allowed to happen if other countries were involved and it is wrong that it is such a mess here. Sadly, I don't expect things to get much better tomorrow, although if assurances from the state broadcaster that the match will be covered inside Zimbabwe on TV are true, we should have more regular live scores. But then again they said that on Sunday.

interestingly, i'd like to know if martin is an independent member of this forum, or if cricinfo either knows of his membership at BC or put him up to the task as the official liason.

Utterly unofficial. I like to keep track of what's happening and contribute to several forums off my own back. All comments made are my own and not the company's, although I do try to explain what the company is up to in certain instances where there is confusion. If I make an official comment, it will be tagged as such.
