Australiaর অব্স্থা তো দেখছি পুরা Kerosene!
Australia's bowling looks really out of sorts - it seems if you put the likes of Bracken, Johnson, et al under pressure, they bowl a lot of fulltosses and long hops. Do you guys think the return of Punters, Gilly can fix that?
I'm all of a sudden hopeful. It's my hope that Windies wins this trophy (if BD doesn't i.e. LOL) - it would be such a boost for cricket in that region.

personally, i want a WC where every team is at full strength (BD foremost of course).
so it would be sad if OZ are missing even a couple of key players.
but on the other hand, i can't help feeling a little bit of shaudenfruend (sp)...
i mean all these big teams playing so many matches, and giving us the shaft, i wouldn't mind if OZ, India, SL, Pak, all lost big cuz of injuries. the bastards deserve it, lol.

Well said al furqaan. Never thought of it that way but yeah, if they want to crowd their calendars at our expense than Bleep-em I say
Didn't realize there was another thread in international cricket - but I wanted to focus on the WC aspect here.
Australia's team questions:
Symonds (torn bycep) - out till 2nd round - weakend throwing and batting, unlikely to bowl
Hayden (broken toe) - will probably miss 1-2 matches - should be ok on return
Lee (ankle) - again will miss 1-2 matches - will his rhythm be messed up?
Pup (hip) - will probably play all matches
Punters (back) - will probably play all matches
Gilly (baby) - misses 2 matches
McGrath (old) - if Punters had felt remotely comfortable with the economy rates of Bracken, Hodge, Tait, Johnson & Lee - this creaky misfield waiting to happen would have been dropped.
In my mind, even if the Aussies summon their fabled will power and drive to win and give it their max, a team with that many questions and one that relies on methodical and physical play rather than any flair is not a shoo-in for the WC. My dark horse is SL (I wish Windies). SL with their slew of left-arm spinners and batting depth is well suited for this tourney.

Who are they playing in the group stage? Depending on that, we may get yet another upset. It would be fun to see if the kerosene is lit, and their hopes for another WC win is burnt. Can we get a head-count of people who don't want Australia to proceed to even the 2nd round?

It is South Africa who is in their group! Well SA have never been that dominant over the Aussies but in recent times SA did well against them. So a tough contest is on the cards.

pleased to see another esteemed member of BC shares my viewpoint.
but i am torn between the 2 conflicting emotions. on the one hand i want a fully healthy WC, all major and minor players should be there.
but on the other hand, if a big gun should slip up, they will blame injuries (if they have them) or burn out (eendia comes to mind first).
and i will laugh like a banshee in their face.

Yes, Keroses indeed. But you can never count them out. But I'll hoping for dethroning of the kings.
