Avatar looked like it can be turned into a fun video game

Sherlock Holmes was disappointing to say the least..... expected better from Guy Ritchie, or maybe characters from novels are never meant for movies...

I watched Avatar at an IMAX 3D theater last week, it was a truly remarkable and memorable experience. I highly recommend it!
If you are watch Avatar at an IMAX 3D, go there are atleast 30mins before the start of the movie for good seats and 3D can make you feel a bit dizzy,so be prepared for that (may be take an advil before the start of the movie).

smh
Bhaijan least you could've done was google his name. Black people already have days short in the month dedicated to them, and now can't they even have a taste of recognition for their work?
In all seriousness, I've been meaning to watch the film but never actually did. This one and 'I am Sam' is in my list of "serious" films. Oh...that person is Don Cheadle right?

I watched Avatar in IMAX 3D last night and was impressed with the effects. It was my first cinematic experience in IMAX 3D so it was new for me. And I will agree that this experience should not be missed however as for the film IMO if you take away the effects it is just another big budget sci-fi flick story-wise. In that respect I got much more into District 9. And it was way too long for me.
I also saw The Departed last week on DVD. I really wanted to watch it in the cinema when it came out but obviously couldn't because of age restrictions. I tried watching it in the Internet but something always came up and it slipped away from my mind. It was on TV a few weeks ago but again I couldn't watch it as I had to attend an Eid party but that reminded me of it. So I just bought the DVD last week and watched it. I was hooked throughout the film although the ending was a bit too gory (spoiler) with all of them dying at once . I loved it though. The best crime thriller I have seen (along with Training Day). Superb performances from the star-studded cast. Really liked Matt Damon in the film. DiCaprio and Nicholson were great as usual. But even the actors with smaller roles, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen and others were excellent. Great film!

Went to see for two reasons:
1 - Aamir Khan (Dil Chahta Hain, Lagaan, Tare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, Earth, heck, even Mangal Pandey)
2 - If I didn't, I would have been babysitting my kid at my in-laws.
A must watch for anyone who has had a taste of the educational system (the pressure) back home. On top of that, it's HILARIOUS! Also, be prepared to get some "sun in the eye" moments. MUST WATCH!
I am in NY this week and plan to watch Avatar the first chance I get. So far the verdict has been steady. Looking forward to some great technlogy + regargitated (sp) story line. Nothing wrong with blockbusters being light in dialogue.

Vy the way, if you have a bias against Aamir Khan and Bollywood movies, you may not be able to get past some of the formula stuff they add in these movies to sell tickets. Just a fair warning. As for Box office, it finished 12th in the US last weekend, grossing 1.65M by showing in only 119 theaters. That's an average of 13828 per theater, which puts it as ranked 3rd in the Box office. Not bad for a Bollywood movie. It also shows how many Desi people watch Bollywood movies in the US. Even though they claim it, aside from some African and Arab countries, it's only the Desis that really make up 95-98% of the viewing audience.
(Box office means nothing sometimes. Holmes made 62M and it looks awful. Chipmunks made 49M for God's sake. However, 3 Idiots eared every penny it made for the "timepass")
Another movie I liked - Wake Up Sidd. Simple and not typical Bollywood. Stay away from "Ajab Prem ki Gajab Kahani", typical Bollwood. Unless you're into it.
BTW, neither movie are artsy or are made to garner awards.
Enjoyed the ending of "The Departed". It's been a while. That black person also did a movie called Traitor. Check it out. He has got one Oscar nomination and if he continues to make movies like "Hotel Rwanda", he will end up with a few of those before he retires.
