watched Dark Shadows... disappointing. The starting was promising.. Depp was great and I really loved retro style of the movie but overall the story was underwhelming and so was the character development of the supporting cast. It was too much of Johnny Depp and not much else in the end.

I was looking forward to watching it. I probably still. Johny Depp in a movie is still eminently watchable. My next in theater movie is going to be MIB3 I think.

I think I will skip MIB3. I still remember the production went through a writer's strike and there was a point where they shot the scenes without a proper script. I remember both Pirates of the Caribbean 2 as well as Transformers 2 having the same problem during production. Both ended up being incoherent, terrible movies.
My next movie to watch is also the one I am most excited about this year, Prometheus!

I'm going to be in BD this summer, so does anyone know if the theaters there shows movies that would just come out like Dark Knight Rises.

REALLY looking forward to Prometheus. Remember watching Alien back in 1980 inside a cozy a Lake Placid Olympic cottage around 1AM while my uncle and aunt were out partying. I was all by myself and got thrilled beyond belief. Great to see Ridley Scott back in the franchise with this much anticipated prequel to the gamechanging 1979 masterpiece.

Alien was masterpiece. The meticulous way the elevation of suspense was crafted ti reach almost intolerable peak is a testament to Scott's genius. Sigourney Weaver cast as the female action protagonist was brilliant. I can wax poetic all day long - I hope Scott can replicate the magic of the first one. Plus - Theron is very easy on the eye.
a game changer in more ways than one. Sigourney Weaver cast as a female action hero

Exactly. Not many movies scare me but this one did with its utter silence during key sequences in perfect harmony with Geiger's beautiful artwork with its dark metallic color palette. Ripley's gradual emergence as the heroine was also masterfully done. Loved the way Scott tempered her heroism with primal maternal instincts (the cat in the first one and then Newt in the sequel).
BTW, Silence of the Lambs and The Ring (the Japanese original) also scared me in good ways.
Easy on the eyes pour moi: Patton, Berry, Theron, Biel, Alba (actually not a bad actress), Zhiyi and nowadays Pinto (also not a bad actress). I'll even watch a Bollywood movie with Rajib Khan if any of them is in it. Thankfully they're unlikely to.

While it's a very entertaining film (visual fx and thrills galore), the problem I have is that they showed practically every key scene in the movie in the trailers. The movie does provide some answers to what you see at the beginning of Alien, but some of the things don't make sense to me (*spoiler* Why do we see the engineer sitting dead (with chest burst open) at the control pod in Alien, if he actually got out of the ship and attacked Shaw and then died in the escape pod (after his chest burst open)?) and some questions just remained unanswered (*spoiler* Why did David infect Holloway? Was it an experiment?).
Obviously, some characters are just a direct copy from Alien, like the "treacherous android" in David... but they split the "strong woman" character of Ripley into Shaw and Vickers. And.. WTH Guy Pearce... he was just unrecognizable as Weyland... totally did a Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder!
Anyway, I felt a bit unsatisfied... but still recommend watching it on the big screen (I thought the 3D was pretty good, for a change).

watched it yesterday in 3D too.
Quite an awesome mubhi thoroughly enjoyed it.
Like u I also didn't understand the purpose of doing what David did.
And the lady was not capable of conceiving so how.....oo well those things reproduce anywhere
And it was also odd spoiler alert that at the end she flew with the guy knowing that he is responsible for what happened to her boyfriend & as if she wasn't even angry on him.

Brilliant Film. Spoiler Alert:
I think those two are different planets and two different engineers. What I understood was that the black chemical was some sort of bio weapon/mutagen either harvested out of xenomorph colony elsewhere or genetically engineered that these engineers carried in their ships. What happened in Aliens was probably a case of contamination to a different engineer that was probably piloting the ship somewhere.

In my opinion it is. The whole film has the same kind of tense/intense atmosphere as aliens and simply incredible visual effects. If there is an IMAX in Bangalore I would suggest u see it there.
