Default NZ-BD Post game analysis - your comment

The game tells a lot, answers a lot of questions.

- JO may have the quality to stay longer but definitely not a man in today's ODI

- Ash is changing probably. He now tries to score 30s which is very important to us. No more in the mindset of hero or zero.:p:p

- Aftab re Ashraful er rog e dhorse. He adopted a tendency to become hero which is a worrying factor for us.:p:p

- Rajin is no close to be considered in playing eleven.:p:p

- Replacing Pilot with Mushfiq was a wise decision taken by Faruq & Co. Pilot would have consumed 50 balls to score that 19 and hence another 'shomman jonok porajoy'.:p:p

- Bashar's tendency of running (himself or partner) out is another factor to be worried. He needs to correct it if we want to beat India

- Taposh er jonno side bench e boisha thakai valo. or num er proty o shubichar hoy, doler jonno o valo hoy.:p:p

- Rasel's line/length is more important than Shahadat's pace. If we bowl in the morning then Rasel will be better choice than Shahadat.:p:p

The team is pretty much fixed, we need to fix some problems here and there. That's all, we are set to beat lndia.:p:p:p

I dunno.

Once again, I'm going in to bat for the Sheet Anchor.

They were chasing 226 - four and a half an over.

We all know Bangladesh can score that ... if they dont lose that many wickets.

When JO got out, they were 3-104 - roughly half the target gone, 2/3rds of the wickets still in hand. He'd scored a decent 45, at a scoring rate of 3 an over.

It wasnt a spectacular job, but he did it.

And finally, if you check what Dav Whatmore's said after wins, the theme 'not lose any wickets for the first 10 or 15 overs' keeps coming up.

As long as JO gets some runs and doesnt get out, I'll back him as the sheet anchor in a team full of talented, free-scoring batsmen.

Well, numbers are not everything. Have you seen JO play? May be you have, but my personal opinion, after watching JO play so many matches, he is not our top-tier material anymore.

Once he was a perfect sheet anchor ... 5+ years ago. But with players like SN, Saqib and Mushfique, we have several anchors now.

JO's technique is BAD. If the delivery is not a fuller length one, He shuffles awkwardly in front of the stump and presents the perfect LBW opportunity all the time. The days of his Jharu Bari is over.

JO didn't get a shot in the 97 ICC trophy playing XI...how he can even be considered for a shot at 2007 World Cup XI is beyond me.

also, this highlights the very inabilities of JO. he scored 40 odd at a strike rate of 52...against a decent team, this is the BEST he can do.

guys like ash, aftab, saqib, SN, even bashar can score run a ball 80s, 100s, etc on THEIR DAY.

but JO at his BEST will get you 40 from 60 balls. he's the only person in Test cricket circles who could score what i call a "match-losing" hundred (i.e 100 from 200 balls will kill you in an ODI).

and that is the final word.

Personally I'm more worried about Aftab's tendency of quick fire while his stay for 50 ball can change the game. I'm worried about Bashar's tendency of run out for him and his partner.

JO has good defensive technique...watching him defend is actually very enjoyable...he defense is prettier than anyone else we have on the team.

this accounts for how he manages to stay at the crease so long with otherwise poor batting technique against quality attacks.
