Our bowling, a reason of concern??
Ireland bowled out Canada for 115. We let them almost pull off a successful chase of 279 runs.
Zimbos bowled out Bermuda for 136. Bermuda is a weak batting side, England got them for 45. And we let this team bat full 50 overs against us and score 208.
With this kind of bowling, how can we contain Srilanka or India?

Any bowling lineup will have concerns facing India and SL. So we must out score them and that is the only way we can win against them.

Batting wise canada is much better than a 115 runs team... YOu can't really compare the effectiveness of our bowling... It was like 2 partnerships that sticked for them....
I mean if Davidson alone clicks... canada will have a high score against any team.

Also these associates are not great against spin, while most of the big teams are good against spin.

We have very limited options. We have actually five bowlers and those five will have to finish the bulk of the quotas regardless how one bowls in a particular match. That worries me. Mash, Rafiq, Raj, Sakib and Rasel ( if picked and looks like he will be playing ) will have to do the job. None of our current batsmen bowl though one might argue that Aftan might get a over or two. But besides him, none among SN, TI, HB, Ash will bowl. Contrast that to SL and Ind line up : On top of their regular frontline bowlers, each have a plethora of slow bowling options from among their batsmen, and I think they will be crucial in this world cup. India has Ganguly, Shehwag, Yuvraj, Tendulkar among parttime bowlers. SL has Jaya and Dilshan.

Guys....Dont worry about it.... The pitch (where we played both games) was a batsmans paradise. According to TC, the balls didnt spin....And slowed down after hitting the pitch, so the balls just looped up. Id take this match against Scotland as a more accurate representation of our bowlers....

As Beamer pointed out, in this current team we are one bowler short. Previously Mehrab or Farhad was playing that role. But both are not in the team, one for his lack of batting, other for his lack of bolwing. Aftab used to play as the 6th bowler role briefly, but but he is ineffective now a days. ideally #6 is for all-rounder. But now its allocated for Sir Ash. But he doesn't bowl any longer. Rajin could have played that role (either @ #6 or @ #2). But that's not going to happen any time soon.
Therefore we have no choice left but just hope and pray so that 5 bowler strategy works for us one of those first two games.

Could be worse.
Bangladesh could be like Australia, and be several bowlers short ...

we contained to NZ to 224 and gave up 265 to canada...you can't look at a single game and make comparisons...
all it says is that on their (bad) day, Bangladesh can concede 250+ to anyone.

In last one year, we have played twelve matches against associates (including the warm-up match against Scotland), on four occasions we have let them cross two hundred runs. On average, associates scored 179.25 runs per innings against us.
I think our bowling is ok.

"ok" !!? I guess you mean bowling against the associates not against the full fledged IND.

Does anyone have any idea how we can surprise the IND top orders during our bowling with this small amunition? Only 5-bowlers = 2pacers+3 SPin of the same type.
What can we do?
1. bring Rajjak early (so many caveats in that / even open bowling with Mashree......Just a thought; I did not smoke anything )
2. Make Rassel bowl 10 overs at a stress (he is capable I guess.........)
3. Mashrafee bowling in 3/more spells (5+2+3 overs) blended with SLAs
4. unorthodox fielding
5. Aftab's bowling keeping Mushfiqur just behind the stumps like that for the SLAs
Is there anything others?

bangladesh bowling should be on line. Coz as far i have seen in WI pitches ball comes slower making a small deviation...and it becomes slower as far day goes.. Do anything outside /wide will surely be punished. On ther other hand good length and stamp-close bowling can make batsman struggle....
But one thing is imp... thats the bowling temperment. NZ against Bangladesh is a warm up match. So Bangladesh played with less pressure. they gave their best shot. I wanna see them showing same aggresive temperment against india and srilanka. if india gets tough bowling sometimes they break like a glass, although they have great batsman ..so there is a chance.......
wish bangladesh bowling and batting and imp fielding click at the same time

Going through these ...........thought of sharing with you guys....how our bowlers will be treated by the Lankans
Sri Lanka: Devastating at the start
A good read to assess how our bowlers will be greeted:
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/wc20...ry/284345.html
Here is Aravinda de Silva analysng the Sri Lankan strength and weakness:
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/talk...iew=transcript
And a different view:
When you're looking for dark horses in this tournament it's impossible to rule out Sri Lanka, simply because of the balance in their team. But a lot of that balance revolves around the form of their joyously unpredictable captain, Mahela Jayawardene. His lack of form, and runs, has affected the Sri Lankan team of late. But when he gets it going, as Aravinda de Silva did when Sri Lanka won the World Cup in 1996, the complexion of the team changes. Fortunately, Jayawardene shares the responsibility with his buddy Kumar Sangakkara, and his former captain, Marvan Atapattu. At the end of the day, though, Sri Lanka's hopes are inexorably linked with Jayawardene's form.

Aravinda de Silva About the Pitches:
"Adaptability to conditions in the Caribbean I hear most of the pitches have been re-laid so there might be a bit of concern over how they will play. It is hard to predict, since they have been re-laid, you never know how much of moisture there is under the surface. But if you look at the past and consider the kind of wickets we have encountered in the West Indies, I feel the chances of a sub-continent team doing well are far greater than any of the other sides."
So far, bowlers did well considering these. Hope they can keep the standard in to the real matches, when it really matters.

I think one of the reasons why we can never choke our opponents, regardless of their lack of batting strength, is our lack of willingness to penetrate. We Bangladeshis tend to go with the flow and take things easy and our cricket team is no exception. That's why strong or weak opponent ends up scoring almost the same number of runs.
