Default Rashid Latif:::: A Great Cheat.

According to the ICC rule clause three law 32 states that " The act of making the catch shall start from the time when a fielder first handles the ball and shall end when a fielder obtains complete control both over the ball and over his own movement."

Latif didnt have any control over his movement ...

I saw when kapali going back ...latif was looking at umpires and he was looking like a "CHISKA chor." that means he knew that he didnt take that catch confortably.

This is really disgraceful. As a captain he should have told the batsman to play on.

Shame on Latif .... SHAME

what exactly did happen? can anyone give the clear picture. describe the happening in words?

I dont think that we should be that much angry at latif. Players take these kind of chances, especially wicketkeepers. I know we all are passionate about our team but we should not let our anger directed towards people like that.

Of course we should ...
cause...he is the captain....

he knew clearly that he didnt caught the ball confidently.

I think the match ref should do something
against this.

The umpire's decision is the umpire's decision. Latif did what he had to do, what about batsmen who know that they nicked a ball when the umpire rules that they haven't? Should they walk off the field nonetheless?

I am not talking about the umpires decision. i am talking about the Sportsmanship. Latif knew very well that he didnt caught that properly and he should have told the batsman to play on.

There is no question about the umpires decision cause they didnt saw that incident.

The umpires can make mistakes and they did that quite a few in this match.

But this was a CRIME cause Latif deliberatly did that.

Capslock, it is not what the players should or shouldn't do! If a player cheats then he is a cheater! Gilchrist walked away in the WC and he received a lots of plaudit; Lara walked away in India when he was on 93 and he received acclaim; Walsh did not not run out a pakistani batter back in 1987 and everybody praised him. So if some one cheats then we should not just sit back and say it happens! He cheated and he should be lambstated. Down with Latif!

Default good point

how about a batsman who knows he is out, but does not leave the crease. I think BD batsman did that during this test.

I am sorry I cannot exactly remember, dont think i am making this up. Also the situation is very possible. but the point is will u lash out at our player the same way? if masud did the same will u hold the same point of view for him?

allrounder, do you think others won't burry Mashud if he had done the same? I am sure the whole of Pakistan would do just that! But if you specifically ask me if I would lash out at Mashud.......I can tell this with confidence that I surely will not like Mashud to appeal for a catch that he had not taken. I played a lot of cricket and believe me I once told the umpire that the ball reached me on the bounce when he was ready to give the batsman out.

"I am sorry I cannot exactly remember, dont think i am making this up."

why do you dont know?? why u r accusing some one if u dont know who did that ??

If Masud this kind of stuff ...obviously I would protest agaisnt it like I did against Latif.

As far as i know Latif is a honest person and very good team leader.

But after this all my Ideas about him changed.

In one of the tests (either 2nd test or this test) Mohmmedd Haffeez nicked the ball and the umpire did not give him out. Sanjay Manjerkar pointed that loud and clear.

Actually, this is more serious on the umpire. As I read on papers, when Latif took the catch, and finally got up, the ball was laying on the ground, not in his gloves.

Giving a out on that goes against the cricket rules of ICC. It is not a matter of human error anymore. It seems he doesnt know the rule.

Since BD will officially complain this to Proctor, this might cost Tiffin his job.

Default This is a Bangladeshi cricket board

I think we are starting to forget that.

We welcome everyone on this board and we let them say what they want, as long as they are doing it in the right spirit and not just to demean BD or others.

But at the end of the day, this is a Bangladeshi cricket board. It exists because we are fans of Bangladeshi cricket and we back our players to the hilt.

So why ask questions like would we hold Mashud to the same standards? Probably not. But we dont pretend to be neutral, may-the-best-team-win kind of fans. We are biased to the core, we love Bangladesh with a passion and we are proud of it. Optimist is right, if Mashud did that, the whole of Pakistan would be up in arms about it. So its only right that we vent our anger at Latif on our board!
