Of course it is!

Does it feel like World Cup?
No it doesnt.

I mean come on man, world cup should be very crowdy on the ground. Have you seen the number of people come to watch cricket in West Indies? Hundreds and thousands of seats are empty for every match! I think we can blame ICC for pricing the ticket so high!!! Do you think 2011 world cup will be more popular and famous?

Now media is not helping aswell. They hardly talk about cricket. We have to pay to watch world cup! We didn't have to pay for football world cup! More people are now finding cricket boring and this is because of the media.

Remember there aren't that many people living in West Indies who can afford to take every day off for the next one month + to go to see the games. I am sure once the super 8 starts many would join. If India goes out in the first round there will more seats empty cause ICC was banking on the Indian supporters from US/Canada to go and see the matches. This world cup is based on tourists being the spectator. Whereas, other WC's the local fill up the majority of the seats. In 2011, I am not sure about other countries but all our 7-8 games would be sold out in advance. That's where the locals will gobble up the tickets.

i think 2011 WC will be a different scene. c'mon.. in the subcontinent, where ppl eat, drink, live cricket? and not to mention, by that time Bangladesh will be as strong as our neighbors. No, I'm not hoping, im actually being realistic. Whats going on in group B right now, will be a normal scenario by 2011. so definitely, NO EMPTY seats in 2011. i think i will book 4 seats as soon as they are available (me, my hubby and 2 kids. and im not even married yet )

Guys, looks like you are in contention here. If you want a free seat in the next worldcup you know who to RSVP. Just in case the fourth seat is empty (you know for various reasons) can I have it?

If you check out on wikipedia, cricket is the second most popular sport, and cricket world cup is the third biggest sporting event in the world after Olympics and football world cup. So cricket world cup is surely very popular, and I am the witness, as there are many Arabs in UAE who are following this tournament quite keenly.
To talk about the crowds in WI, well, the West Indians are very passionate about this game, and the WI's previous two matches in this WC had been a sell-out. But most of the other matches involves the minnows which are one-sided, so people prefer watching it on TV rather than going to the stadium. Once the Super8 commences, I can tell you that there'll be capcacity crowds for most of the big games.
