After watching today's innings. I found the answer.
He is getting better.
A very good news for Bangladesh cricket.

Agree. He is definitely getting better. Next few games will put a seal on this question for good.

He should Bat @ 4, If Sakib and Hablu don't lose there wickets and decided to play Test Cricket, Ash doesn't get the luxury for playing in the middle overs where all he keeps is simple takes singles hits the odd ball for 4 and once he's set he goes on rampages. All Hablu tries to do is Block, Block, Block, wild swing (usually miss), single block, block, RUN OUT.

Like I said in the Chat Room, no Bad mouthing Ash for the next year, one more thing no other batsmen can take it to an opposition the way Ash can take it to an Bowling Attack.

Ash's 87 today should be a good conclusion & reminder to close the thread.
Salute Ash for doing it once more after cardif ......

ASh will not score for more games and this thread will revive again... lets just hope he will get 25+ notout from every match. don't expect 87 from him on every match

I think that for now Ashraful should stay at number 5 and in the future when he proves that he is ready for sure then we should have him go up the order a bit like number 4 but not right now and also we shouldn't unsettle Sakib he is good where he is now and in the future he should promoted up the order when may be Bashar gets retired and probably bat at number 3!!!!But the most important thing is that we should have the players play where they feel comfortable to play!!!!
Ashraful should stay in the middle overs!!!Also no bad mouthing Ashraful anymore!!!!!!

Here is Ashraful average in the world cup 2007:
Code:
Mat I NO Runs HS1 HS2 HS3 Ave 100 50 0
Career 96 89 9 1786 100 94 87 22.32 1 11 10
WC 2007 6 6 3 178 87 45* 29* 59.33 0 1 0
Now, this should give us all a hint which direction he is heading towards.

Whenever he performs, we win big matches; doesn't matter if it is Australia, SA or India . That is the best part about him.... But he has the lack of consistency what we saw before. But no complain for this world cup so far. I believe he is getting matured day by day. And the innings he played with SA was one of the best innings I have ever seen from a BD player. I will rank this on top of Australia innings he played at Cardiff. No: 4/5 is best for him. Our selector should find that out by now ... !!

He has notonly made one 87, he was consistent in all the matches of world cup. More over if you see down the history, it is Ashraful who has always played match winning innings will all the big fishes, Aus in Cardif, Srilanka in Bogra, India in Dhk, SA in Gayna........... He had his bad times though. But his performance does not deserve this thread.
Before this you can open a thread probably for all the BD batsmen
We urgently need a thread on Hablu/SN. I tend to Agree with Ash & Aftab's comment on SN and they have proven it in the WC, SN could not. Without undermining SNs contribution, I would like him to see doing good in the pressure matches.
Ash is by far the best batsman we have or ever had so far. He plays for team.

I think Ash has been playing much better in this world cup... his shot selection is much better. He is moving in the right in the right direction, he needs to play consistently over a period of time to prove any point.

The problem with Ashraful is, he gets too carried away when he plays a good innings. Although its natural to any player to feel satisfied after playing a good innings, he must learn not to be over confident and self-satisfied. To be a good batsman, one must have the hunger for runs and learn from his mistakes.

Actually.. Ashraful should play from 20-50 overs.. He should not bat at 5/6.
It might go like
SN/BASH
TAMIM
SAKI
ASH
AFTA
FARHAD
MASRI/MUSHY
MUSHY/MASRI
RAFIQ
RAZZAK
RASEL
[ MUSHI/MASRI depends on the over going..if its 40 overs+ ..Masri comes in..if its 35 Overs- Mushy comes in ]
This is for the world cup only..this line up..because i dont think SN's bad form will continue to make his spot OPTIONAL.

i would like to see Rahim as an opener along with Tamim. he showed against India that he can handle coming high up the order and he can basically do what JO does (act as the anchor) That will also make room for us to bring in an extra batsman like Farhad or Rajin. Ash and Aftab should stay in the same spot.
so my lineup
Tamim
Rahim
Bashar
Saqib
Ash
Aftab
Farhad
Mash
Raique
Razzaq
Rasel

Thing is with Ash is consistency, not tecnhqiue nor talent. He performs against the big boys albeit infrequently. He isnt a minnow basher like Shahriar Nafees. The jury is still out on Sakib against better quality oppositon in terms of batting.
Afatb should bat down lower down the order, batting at number 3 just hasn't worked at all. He plays too risky and can't adapt his game, therefore lower order he can hit out.
