Default And its still possible for Indians...

CricketNext's logical analysis of the tournament leads them to declare:

Quote:
And now their only chance of making it to the round of Super 8 is if (and that is a big if) Bermuda beat Bangladesh by a massive margin in the final group match on Sunday, which going by the spate of upsets in the tournament does not look impossible.

Can someone explain to me why we would need to lose by a big upset for them to go ahead? Apart from points, where do they all stand according to Net Run Rates?

The only match ever played between Bangladesh and Bermuda:
http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/trise...ch/274777.html

only 1 month ago, BD won quite comfortably.

Why does it have to be a loss by a big margin against Bermuda?
We lose = we are out, isn't it..given we are already 3+ RR behind?

You're right. Clearly 'cricket next' needs to do a little less jouranlistic day-dreaming and actually look at the facts of the group.
If Bangladesh win they are through.
If Bermuda win by an absolutely astonishingly enormous margin (would need to be about 500/600 runs) they would go through.
If Bermuda won by less than an absolutely astonishingly enormous margin India would go through.

Don't understand the big margin part. India already has better NRR than Bangladesh. If we loose, India go through, even by a run.

You are right brother. Make a team in Fantasy Cricket for Ban vs Ber game.

Thats not really true....Bangladesh has played three matches with Bermuda up until now.....The one you mentioned was the sole ODI.
Here're the other two:

1 BD 67 31.3 60 - L ICCT v BD in Eng 1982 at King's Heath
2 Ber 70/3 15.5 60 68 W
1 BD 175 56.5 60 - W ICCT v BD in NL 1990 at The Hague
2 Ber 139 53.5 60 176 L

I read it.. and the if is only if BER beats BD with a massive margin.. do you think that is literally possible? I think its not.. I have that much hope for BD.. even if BER beats BD with massive margin then most prolly BER will go to super 8/ and I think thats not possible either..:p

no need to beat Ban with a massive margin. just simply a 1 run win of Ber is good enough for India.

well, i hope our players won't take too much pressure on themselves, and treat this game as any other. if we don't do anything silly and go out there, play our cricket and enjoy ourselves, we should win.

There is now way we can let them score 205 again if they bat first!!!! Thats not acceptable.....It will seriously hamper my ability to breathe freely until we cross that score if that was the case...

I have only one reply: Don't forget Canada. We don't want history to repeat itself.

Let me make the equal a little easier. We will simply have to 'not' to lose.

I think Bermuda beat us a couple of times in the ICC trophy before, when we were associates.

So, its only the 'ODI' match ever played between these two teams, NOT 'the only match ever played'.

Thanks to BD4eva and fwullah for correcting me... I didn't know about those matches, lot of time has come since than, and Bangladesh is a much better team now.
