Default Bring Opee Back

Opee is very talented, and I'm sure with a little butt kicking from Whatmore he'll start kicking some major butt ...

As far I know Opee is out of form and out of everything. Though it is sad in future he may be known as "great nirman player", nothing else.

We need players like him. But I am not saying that we need someone like Opee to come in and open for Bangladesh now.

All I am saying is that we need such brave players who can hit centuries in one day cricket.

After all, that is why Opee is returning in our thoughts, is it not? That because he scored the only One Day century for Bangladesh in its almost 80 One Day Internationals?

Don't forget that Opee is the only ODI centurian of BD.

Recently he is out of form but I think he will be able to come back soon. But the main problem of Opee is he himself. He is very irregular as well as "Dail Khor". He needs to quit drugs and concentrate on cricket.

To Kalbaishakhi - I've seen Opee play a number of times, and he is by far the best one day opener we've ever had. Like many people pointed out, he is his own enemy.

No! He has good cricket sense but he lacks discipline in life! He loves "Dail" (I don't think you know what that is!)

note on Opee,

I played with tennis ball with Opee and his cousin is my best friend. He was not even playing for any league teams at that time, high school drop out at that time I think. Even during that time he was into girls and drugs. Used to show us his pocket address book full of girls name and ph number.

I was even surprised when he made the national team, and realized that he really must have passion and determiniation for the game, otherwise he would not have made it this far.

Anyway, who ever wants a place in the national team I think they have to fight for that position and prove that they are fit and the best out there to be selected.
Past performance or record should not be a major criteria for selection.

Need something like India is doing now, playing against each other. Making it easy for the selectors to select inform players.

We did have something like either early this year or late last year. It was the national team, the A team and (I did not get this) the development team. That's how Anwar was selected in place of Pilot. I am going to assume that it was after the world cup (this year)

How's he been doing in the domestic league? I actually like the idea of recalling him or Biddyut.

I think Anwar was selected as a batsman only; although he is a wicketkeeper. Pilot also played in the same one-day match/matches where Anwar played. Selim replaced Pilot in the home series against SA. Most of you might disagree, but I think both Selim and Anwar are better batsmen for one dayers than Pilot. Surely Pilot is a competitive cricketer and an asset for the Test team. But in limited over cricket coming at 6/7 he doesn't have much to offer. Offcourse he can save us from some embarrasment by scoring some runs in case of top order collapse but he won't win us any match either (I know his cameo against Kenya in ICC trphy final)! The 4th one-day line up looked perfect only if we could have a batsman-wicketkeeper like Sangakara/Dravid/Gilchrist/Alec Stuwart/Mark Butcher.
