For me JO is a good opener for test. For ODI.... I think he is very much questionable. SN started his career in a high note. But he still couldnt prove himself much against big teams. English pace bowlers are well capable of swinging the ball and has good control too. That's why I am worried to putSN against them in such a bad form.

This is a big gamble I think. JO is too slow and this can be dangerious for the team as we saw in the game against NZ. Again against SA this was good for us. So whoever plays tomorrow, i mean SN/JO, his selection will be questionable if he cannot justify his selection by playing a good innings.

Agreed, but he will have to click with the bat in both these matches. in case bangladesh is chasing then he shall have to make strokes frequently. TI is doing great ! he should be cautious about picking up the loose deliveries. sometime he attempts some ambitious shots which might cause him to loose. apparently he is in nice form i am expecting more delightful innings from him. If the first three can bat until 70/80 runs, aftab can be promoted in the order on 4. everything depends on condition.

england have mehmood , freddie and anderson in their pace attack. anderson might be threatening in the initial overs although the morale of this side is looking bleak, they havent been able to beat any test playing nation so far in world cup. that is a plus point for us. but the major headache sould be the consistency of top order. there is no way to get complacent in the super eight.

Skipper Bashar however hinted that there was a possibility of vice captain and opener Shahriar Nafees Ahmed, scorer of 1033 runs in 28 matches last year, returning to the fold.

I dont support JO (fullstop). He's the only guy capable of playing a proper test innings but even that he's never accomplished fully. He eats up deliveries, hardly rotates strike, has a limited repertoire of shots to send the ball to the boundary, and thus creates pressure on the rest of the batsmen. In his very long career, he hasnt ever demonstrated that he can hit out, so people expecting him to go wild when the powerplays start are likely to be very disappointed.

I'll say it again: What JO does good, SN, Tushar Imran, Nafees Iqbal and Rajin cant do any worse.

I'm not a JO supporter - but there's no way you can justify putting SN before JO now. SN screwed up every single (even with Bermuda) innings he got. It's better to waste balls than to waste your wicket! So yes for JO ...

i dont think a single replacement can change the entire performance of the team. we have to keep up the same team spirit. then the mistakes of a single or two would not come in focus.

I can't totally agree. Both the other openers are natural strok players and have a tendency to get out quickly. Quick wicket would put undue pressure on Tamim. If he (Tamim) doesn't play his natuaral game and goes on the defense then he'll get out cheaply, if he faces 60-70 deliveries and plays his stroks then he can score big. But you need someone to drop anchor in other end. And if you have wickets left we have plenty of batsmen (Aftab, Ashraful, Sakib, Mash and Rafiq) who can score quickly in the later overs. Case in point the SA match.

Definetely Not. JO is not good enough at ODI level. Nafees is one of the most talented cricketers and must come back.

i think its not a big deal, who ever opens we need a big partnership, like 50 plus. bashar should bat at number 3, if we bat first we need 250 plus runs and if we bat second, we have to stop england for 250 or less, thats it.it will be a tough match for BD, I am scarred of flintoff, he didnt get adequate run yet. hope BD is not his comeback match, so is for vaughn and strauss

I think we're in a big dilemma regarding JO. The good thing JO does for us is he keeps his wicket intact and takes the shine of the new ball by his trademark defensive shot which interms sets a platform for rest of the BD batsman to go for a respectable score. The bad thing he does is he eats up too many balls without scoring many runs and this creates a lot of pressure down the order and if nobody comes up with an ashraful EID innings, we get thrashed!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Only associate members need batsmen like him who can help their team to bat out 50 overs. We are a test playing nation and our batsmen should play according to the merit of the delivery. Not first 10 overs / 15 overs kind of rubbish plans. Seeing off the new ball does not mean just leaving, leaving, leaving... or playing defensive shots on every ball. Playing an anchor role means taking less risks, NOT swallowing deliveries.

YES and he should play against Eng at least!!

Loosing a wkt within first two overs will decompose any possibility of our big score. All we need no loss of wkt upto 10 over.....35-40/0 in 10 overs is fine with me.

Clear and out

yeap, at the moment JO is the man who can give us this total.. whe have nothing to loose.. JO has the ability to play fine strokes just need sometime to settle.. I am not sure why you guys want to kick all the old guys out.. Remember, they are like our guardian..they have shown us the path..all the youngsters following their footsteps.. I think Bashar and JO deserves some respect.. their contribution for our country is invaluable..
