The match against WI might become our most important match ever? (a very goruistic thread)
Let's assume we pull off what some would call an "upset" against England...
Then we prevent Ireland from pulling off an upset...
I think we'll pretty much be in a situation where we MUST beat West Indies (the home team) and by a significant margin to make it to the Semis.
Man, I would pay anything to be in that stadium...

inshallah,(there is no penalty for putting faith in God, right) we will beat the three other teams to ensure a spot to the semis in surprise of many, but we must not look back and i feel Bangladesh can do much much better, they can beat any team. tommorrow's match against England is crucial because after the Sri-lankan performance it seems though that England might be back on form. anything can still happen so Bangladesh shall continue this momentum. India shall not feel so bad now that they have seen South Africa get beaten by Bangladesh

If we can win against England and Ireland in next two matches, the match against WI will be a high pressure match for sure.

Question: Which comes first? Net runrate or head to head meeting in case two team has the same points and only one can make it to the semis.

Let's examine two scenarios:
Most likely, IMHO (where we win all 3 matches and it comes down to NRR):
Aus vs Eng - Aus+2
Ire vs NZ - NZ+2
WI vs SA - SA+2
Eng vs BD - BD+2
SL vs NZ - NZ+2
Aus vs Ire - Aus+2
SA vs NZ - NZ+2
BD vs Ire - BD+2
Aus vs SL - Aus+2
SA vs Eng - SA+2
Ire vs SL - SL+2
WI vs BD - BD+2
Aus vs NZ - Aus+2
WI vs Eng - Eng+2
Aus - 14
NZ - 12
SL - 8
SA - 8
BD - 8
Less likely (we win all 3, but can't reach semis, not even by NRR):
Aus vs Eng - Aus+2
Ire vs NZ - NZ+2
WI vs SA - SA+2
Eng vs BD - BD+2
SL vs NZ - SL+2
Aus vs Ire - Aus+2
SA vs NZ - SA+2
BD vs Ire - BD+2
Aus vs SL - SL+2
SA vs Eng - SA+2
Ire vs SL - SL+2
WI vs BD - BD+2
Aus vs NZ - NZ+2
WI vs Eng - Eng+2
SL - 12
Aus - 10
SA - 10
NZ - 10
BD - 8

BTW, in the first scenario, consider that if Eng or WI beat SA, we are through.

From Cricinfo -
Qualification for the semi-finals
The top four sides after the Super Eights go through to the semi-finals. First plays fourth in St Lucia on April 25 and second plays third in Jamaica on April 24.
If there is a tie for positions, then they are separated as follows:
The team with the most wins goes through;
if the number of wins are the same, net run-rate - including match against the other qualifier from the group stage - comes into play;
if - and it is very unlikely - NRR is the same then the team with the most wickets taken per balls bowled goes through.

Every thing start happening from Super-8 is bonus for me. I'm very happy how Bangladesh are playing right this moment. I personally don't care about semi, but i'm thinking about the match against Irland.

I will be quite happy if we get few more wins (atleast two). However, a semifinal berth will be a huge bonus.

Its like same thing over again. In the group stage people were using their valuable time calculating NRR and etc. Where I was saying we would qualify with 4 points and team with 2 points can't qualify. Same thing here, if we get 8 points we are in the semis. SA can't beat England and New Zealand then. We will face NZ in the semis cause they will top the group.

Australia will beat NZ and Australia will top the group. So who ever is fourth will play Australia. Australia yet has to play Ireland to make the max of their NRR.

For Bangladesh to reach Semis, it seems as if these conditions need to be met :
* Bangladesh have to win their remaining 3 games (8 pts in total)
* South Africa have to lose their remaining 2 games, against England & New Zealand (6 pts in total)
* Sri Lanka will have to lose against Australia & New Zealand (8 pts total, assuming they will beat Ireland)
There is a chance that all BD, SA and SL might have 8 points each, where the two with better NRR will go through. So BD-WI match indeed seems to be the most important one!

Super8 calculations involve more teams, and its more likely that one or more team will end up with same amount of points. (No. 3 and no. 4 teams in this case, both having a chance to end up with 8 points each) So the NRR factor will almost certainly come into play!

ok
West Indies lost to south africa today that means only 6 teams left to be mathematically eligible for the cup... (at least now we know West Indies and Ireland can't win the world cup)... Cricket is a game of uncertainty(much like our universe and atomic theory)... so i am hoping Bangladesh performs WELL tommorrow
i had a dream, seriously two nights ago that bangladesh players reach the zia international airport and 5:00 am in the morning and they get a huge cheer from all the surrounding people. i hope that dream means...
