Default Match thread: WC'07 2nd Semi - Australia vs South Africa

So, the 2nd semi final is coming up, and Australia faces South Africa at Gros Islet

Australia: from RT Ponting, NW Bracken, SR Clark, MJ Clarke, AC Gilchrist, BJ Haddin, ML Hayden, BJ Hodge, GB Hogg, MEK Hussey, MG Johnson, GD McGrath, A Symonds, SW Tait, SR Watson

South Africa: from GC Smith, JH Kallis, LL Bosman, MV Boucher, AB de Villiers, HH Gibbs, AJ Hall, JM Kemp, CK Langeveldt, A Nel, M Ntini, RJ Peterson, SM Pollock, AG Prince, R Telemachus

Live score: http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ci/e...ch/247506.html

Read match previews: for Australia and South Africa.

So let us see what happens in this ultimate fight for a shot at the cup. Australia has had a sensational time in this World Cup, and have won every match they played. Many are interested in seeing an end to their winning streak of the World Cups.

If Australia qualifies, the same opponents will face in the finals like in 1996. It will be a fun match to watch. However, if South Africa wins this match, they will qualify for the first time (?) for any World Cup finals.

PS. My first match thread. Testing my luck here (lol...using Australia and SA as test mouses )...lets see if the team I support wins today or not

Ricky ponting wanted SLOW Kallis early in the crease. He has go what he wanted. Hope Kallis scores big today and makes him eat his words

does not matter if it is slow, all is needed is to have wickets and Smith gifted his wicket for what? this was an important match and he selected to bat and then went back to pavilion just after 2+ overs?

Why they choose to bat not sure when they have good pacers!
Aussie will be a good chaser and SA has no spinners.

Its not going too well for South Africa. I think they are trying to attack a little too early. A score around 250 will be pretty competitive in this pitch.

SA batsmen having the wrong approach today. It has been proved other than Australia that slow start wins the game. These batsmen just gifted their wicket on an important match.

5.4 McGrath to Gibbs, no run, 84mph from McGrath. Either the old man is fired up or, as has happened a few times, the speed gun is up the creek. Anyhow, outside off and Gibbs watches and leaves
