Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has caused some worries for the Indian camp ahead of their tour of Bangladesh, succumbing to an ankle injury.
34 year old Tendulkar, who has played 135 Tests and 384 one-day internationals for his country, hurt his ankle in the first training session under new cricket manager Ravi Shastri.
India are currently taking part in a five-day training camp in Kolkata prior to departing for Bangladesh on Monday.
VVS Laxman is not in attendance and may be a doubt for the tour due to illness.
Two Test matches and three one-day internationals will be played between India and Bangladesh in May.
|
They were selected for the test matches and I believe absence of Tendulkar and Laxman (if that happens at the end) will cost the Indians.

They are not in action till the Test match on May 18. Plenty of time to recover.

Is the injury fake or real. I'm really doubtful.
BD tour is very critical for this two crickets (Sourov another one) as their career at stake. If any of these three fails then that will be his end of road. People will criticise that they can't handle even BD bowlers. But in reality they know very well that our bowlers are nothing less than world's top on our soil.
Not a bad decision for Sachin and Laxman to save their career.

FaridpurChicago,
I don't think bowlers from SA, NZ, AUS, SL, Pakistan etc. are any wee bit easier to handle, if not more difficult, than your bowlers.
So since they can't handle your bowlers, who should they play against to save their career?

And how doesTendulkar spends the day after taking advise to take a break from training?
He goes out gets heavier Bat (1.3Kg). Apparently he used to use quite heavy Bat before he injured his shoulder hence was advised to use lighter Bat. Since he has under perform in WC 2007 he has to make some kind of excuse.

This one may be serious -
Quote:
Rahul Dravid hit by R P Singh bouncer
India's preparation for the coming Bangladesh tour suffered a blow, with Rahul Dravid getting hit on the face by a bouncer from R P Singh on the penultimate day of the conditioning camp in Kolkata on Saturday.
Dravid, who was having batting practice on a grassy wicket, tried to hook the delivery and the ball came off his bat and hit his face.
The Indian skipper, who was wearing a helmet, immediately collapsed and other members of the team rushed to him. Team physio John Gloster treated him for a couple of minutes before he left for the dressing room, bleeding profusely, with a towel wrapped on his face.
The extent of the injury is still not clear and so far there is no word from the team management.

Dravid's injury also turned out to be a minor one.
Quote:
A board spokesman said the injury was not serious.
"His condition has been diagnosed as 'nose trauma'," the spokesman told reporters.
"He was hit on the grille and the ball grazed his nose. There was no cut, just bruises. It is not serious."
Dravid has been advised complete rest for the next 24 hours.

However, Indians are struggling with Kolkata heat.
Quote:
The soaring temperatures have taken a serious toll of some players with newcomers Ranadeb Bose and Munaf Patel have reportedly fainted and vomited due to challenging weather conditions.
Similar conditions are set to greet the Indian when they land in Bangladesh on Monday before the 3-match one-day series kicks-off on May 10.
Bangladesh Cricket Board sources have said that the temperatures in May will oscillate between 36 to 38 degree centigrade but thankfully the humidity won’t be as high as Kolkata.
Reports indicate that BBC predicts a high of 33 degrees on Monday, the day the Indians land in Dhaka.

Geez.....the indians are so nervous, they're hitting their own players! Desperate situations calls for desperate measures i guess. But what would knocking out your captain possibly achieve i wonder....

Here is the video on Dravid's injury incident...
http://www.cricketnext.com/videos/24...ce-bleeds.html
Its pretty sad, after such a minor injury, they speculate his reflexes are deteriorating... things like this can happen to even youngsters.. i feel bad for these players... the media makes them overnight king and would through them back to the streets right after a disappointing performance

The reporter said, Dravid is the ONLY PERFECT BATSMAN IN THE WORLD. Now that is a bit too much. Anyway, I'll try to live with it. Let them come, and we'll see how that goes.
About Yuvraj Singh's comment, that was a bit childish. Like sure you say "Bangladesh has given us sleepless nights", but hello? You yourself played in that match, and lost it. And now you're saying "we're going there to prove a point". What point are you trying to prove? That the match you lost against Bangladesh was a fluke? Or was it that you sucked that day? Oh no, they'll prove that they are no better than an okay team. No no, they'll prove that they aren't taking Bangladesh lightly. Naah these are all overrated. They'll prove that their 11-men squad is the dream-team that anyone in the world can ask for.
You know what I say? Come and prove your point. Whatever point you try to prove, just learn how to live with a loss. The team you lost against also beat South Africa after you. So you're not talking about a mediocre team. Idiot.
