Today sold ARTG (Art Technology) after holding the stock for patiently for 9 months. 56% Gain, not Bad. Only bad thing is as I didn't hold it more than a year, I have to pay more tax.

Last week after NFLX (NetFlix) dipped, I bought some @ $16 for short. It went up to $17.5 the next day and I didn't sold it. Plan to sell if it goes to 19. Or am I too greedy?

Fazal, it was kind of expected last week after the dow hit 14000. this week, expect it to go up because of earnings.

if you are feeling extra bullish, QLD, DDM and SSO are good short-term plays. If you are feeling extra bearish, QID, DXD and SDS are where it's at.

So you didn't really short the stock, did you? you bought nflx at 16 and wanna hold it until it reaches 19. It might be a while before it hits 19.

yes you are right. Sorry I missued the term. I bought it for short term gain. Yes ...19 may be too high. May be I will sell it if it hits 18+ in a good day in next few weeks.

No problem. I think there is a good opportunity now during earnings season for locking in some profits, not just in nflx, but in a lot of other equities. When it passes, it might be another roller coaster ride for a month or two.

Looking at buying some shares myself.

Photo-Me (PTO), David Jones (DJS), Toll Holdings (TOL) and Platinum Asset Management (PTM) are the ones I'm keeping a close eye on.

I thought I am going to sell if EMC it hits 20. But looks like I will wait for VMware's public offering (now oned by EMC) will be be around Aug 9 (??). Will it drive beyond 25 towards 30?

Nah... I will cash and run if it ever hits 22+.

Hate this. David Jones is so volatile. I wish I could just forget about it and remember again in a few years when I've made a killing.

Today...

Quote:
TORONTO, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Shares of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion plunged on Thursday as a Nasdaq selloff in other momentum tech names such as Apple Inc and China's Baidu.com Inc appeared to take a toll on the stock.

RIM fell $5.88, or 5 percent, to close at $111.00 on the Nasdaq, bouncing back from a low of $105.02 touched earlier in the day. On the Toronto Stock Exchange, it fell C$4.59, or 4 percent, to finish at C$109.99.

The drop is small compared to the stock's sharp ascent in the last 12 months. Since October 2006, the shares have more than tripled in value, as demand soars for RIM's wildly popular lineup of smartphones.

Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek said a broader market slump on the Nasdaq likely led to a pronounced selloff in the stock after initially small moves downward.

RIM's plunge came in tandem with declines by other big momentum names. Baidu, China's top Web search company, fell 10.8 percent and Apple gave up 3.4 percent.

The Nasdaq as a whole fell 1.6 percent, or 44.56 points, to 2,767.05 on profit-taking and downbeat broker commentary about Baidu's upcoming quarterly results.

Today's Snapshot:
$111.00 -5.88 (-5.03%) 37,359,993 $105.02-118.74 72.87

Share market is something Ihave absolutely no clue about. When people sit and discuss this in front of me, I sit and nod my head as if I'm getting everything.

So goru bhai, what's your net income based on these increases? If you can convince me, I may consider this as a part time business for myself!
