Two separate teams for ODIs and Tests
I believe that it will not happen in Bangladesh - not within 2 years at least. Based on individual players' performance, I think that this is the best team for One Dayers and Test matches:-
Test Cricket
1) Hannan Sarkar
2) Al Shahriar
3) Javed Omar
4) Habibul Bashar
5) Mohammad Ashraful
6) Rajin Saleh
7) Aminul Islam
8) Khaled Mashud (wk)
9) Mohammad Rafique
10) Enamul Haque
11) Talha Jubair
12) Mashrafee Bin Murtoza
One Day Cricket
1) Hannan Sarkar
2) Mehrab Hossain
3) Rajin Saleh
4) Alok Kapali
5) Akram Khan
6) Minhazul Abedin
7) Mohammad Rafique
8) Khaled Mahmud
9) Mushfiqur Rahman
10) Naimur Rahman
11) Monjurul Islam
12) Shafiuddin Ahmed
13) Tapash Baisya
Notice that players like Hannan Sarkar and Rajin Saleh are in both teams - courtesy of their recent good performances in the last Pakistan tour.
Also notice that Habibul Bashar does not fit in the One Day team. Wanna know why? His one day average is now 18 - right where Minhazul Abedin's batting average is now. But I can't forget the match winning knock of Minhazul against Scotland. I also can't forget his unbeaten 52 against Australia. He was a good bowler during 99 world cup too, whereas Habibul Bashar is only a batsman.
In addition, Khaled Mahmud, Naimur rahman and Mushfiqur Rahman - they all come in the one day cricket team, but they don't fit in the Test cricket.
This is not based on stats, only names that are coming out from my memory - I thought of who could be specialist one day player and who could be a specialist test player.
One thing is also of importance and that struck my mind. Stroke players like Habibul Bashar, Al Shahriar and Moahmmad Ashraful - they are all in the test side, but not in the one day side. Is it because -

Test Cricket allows natural talented players to play freely and One Day Cricket allows single-scorers to play freely

I hope you don't take any offence but in my mind that's stupid. You're saying in 2 years the team should be like that? Akram's retired and Aminul/Moni will have retired by then. No Sumon or Masri instead you put ppl like Saiffuidin. Sanwar is a better batsman than Rokon. Anyone who saw them in Australia won't differ. No Tushar who is the most free playing batsman in the whole nation. Sorry Fahmida but I can't agree with what you put

- No, I wasn't serious in my first topic , but now I am serious. Look at the pwc ratings above. I would like to point out that why is Akram Khan still our 2nd best One Day batsman after Kapali?
I am sure these stats and ratings will change after the England tour, but at the moment, we have a serious gap in our one day players. It is a matter of great concern - and it should be one of the worries in Dave's mind.

Habibul_fan, when I was writing my first topic, I was only thinking of what our all time great one day specialist and test specialist players - list would be like.
And about the 2-year limit, I was thinking in terms of - we will know in 2 years as to who is our best specialist test player and who is our best specialist one day player (for example - Hannan, Rajin and even players like Kapali, Tapash are too young and have played too less no. of one day and test matches to consider them as one day or test specialist players.

I think Hannan is going to do a good job in ODI as well, if the last three ODIs he played in Pakistan any indication.

Somebody should get a one day hundred sometime soon or this "Mehrab" phenomenon will not go away too easily from the fan's minds (at least not from my mind).
And since improving individual performance is THE WORD of Whatmore, somebody should score a hundred and fast.

Is a 100, no more no less, the only yardstick for measuring performance?!?! I would have thought our improved showing would have counted as improved performance!

Well said Pompous
I don't think we need to get all worried about players scoring hundreds. I would rather have us score around 250 in every match and no players get a hundred than one player getting a hundred in every match and the team getting bowled out for 210!
