Default Analyses of English Players

Let's discuss about the English players, their strengths and weaknesses. Who might do well against us? Who is the dangerman? Can the English's last tour in India indicate anything? How can our players manipulate their collective achilles hill?

Michael Vaughan:

Has played only 5 innings in the subcontinent, 3 against India. Kumble got him the first time for 11, not out in the 2nd innings for 31 and handled the ball before he got out for 60 in the third innings.

Also played in the Colombo test in Srilanka. Got out cheaply in both occasions, caught behind off Vaas and then bowled by Murali.

Needless to say, dangerous. Since we don't have a Murali, a Vaas or a Kumble.

By the way Vaughan is also an off spin bowler but i think captaincy will temper his batting.
Flintoff (useful allrounder) is the man to watch though. I think he hit 423 runs at 52.00 against South Africa, includes his 142 at Lord's, 2 fifties and the 95 at the Oval match, i.e SA match which was crucial to his team. I wish we had allrounders like that.

Mark Butcher:

Record in Subcontinent:

Against India:

Played: All three recent tests in India, i.e. 6 innings.

Runs: 215 runs at an average of 43 with 2 half centuries one of which is a 92.

Mode of dismissals: In the first test, both time was scalped by newcomer fast bowler tinu yohannan. In the second test got the better of yohanan and had to be dismissed by Kumble and Harbhajan. In the 3rd test got run out in his twenties.

Andrew Flintoff:

Played 5 innings in India, with awful scores of 18, 4, 0, 4 and 0. Kumble took him thrice while Harbhajan and Sarandeep Singh got him once each.

Default Thorpe

Very difficult to dislodge. Also, our bowlers look more hopeless against left handers.
He had a great time in 2000-01 in the subcontinent:

vs. India:
1 match 85 runs avg:42
vs. Pakistan
3 matches 284 avg: 56
vs. Srilanka
3 matches 269 avg:67

In the karachi test he played that 64 not out innings to give england the series victory. I watched that on tv, that was a great innings. He is the dangerman.

Default Flintoff and Thorpe

Flintoff has improved his game tremendously and he is in top form! Thorpe is all class, world-class! An excellent player of spin from what I remember.

Vaughan is awesome too...remember the ashes...this guy is a fighter...classy too...very classy!

Dunno much about their bowlers.

I wonder if we care gonna have a few English fans visit our board for the tour. They could fill us in too.
