Warm up match day 1 review, good enough?
At the end of todays play the score ended Bangladesh 183/5. in 73 overs. In all respect 2.31 per over is certainly not good enough but it was good to see only 5 players out in 73 overs considering this is like a test format which we fail in most of the time. Usually we wouldnt even get this far although the scoreboard would be slightly higher. Anyway this is just a warm up match and it is also he perfect opportunity for us to get to know the conditions before the actual test match. Great to see our former smily captain on 60 not out, a century would be a great boost of confidence for him come Monday. Hope he gets it.

I don't think its good enough. Sakib's performance was really disappointing. But Habib got his 50. Thank God for that and Khaled Masuds strike rate is horrible. i think he forget how to hit ball. Hope tomorrow they will play better than today

It is more than good enough for me. At least it is not 185 all out. Starting with a draw in a tour is better than starting with a loss. This is the time to adjust to the climate, pitch and opponent.

it's a warm up match. the focus is on getting some batting practice and getting used to the conditions out there. nothing else matters.

Well, personally I'm just disappointed with Shahriar Nafees in this game. As for the rest, well, they can be forgiven. I'm just happy Bashar found himself. I just hope he keeps his finding throughout the rest of his career and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the series that precedes this practice match.
183/5 is okay considering how badly we have fallen apart (thanks to the 13 month gap) and also, this Sri Lanka A side is pretty strong, so I would say we did okay.
I'm just happy to see that we're doing better before the main matches - it is an indication that we might actually fair well in a test or two !!!!!

I am not worrying about runs in a 3 day match. Bangladeshi batsmen has spent some time on the crease, thats the most important thing for me. They have to continue their good work though. Just grind it out. Temperament is the issue with our batsmen, runrate we can pick up anytime we want.

185/5 isn't that far from 185/10. One good ball and one khocha brings on the bowlers to bat. The fact is none of our batsmen other than Bashar showed any test class today. Only a sinking man can appreciate that straw. SriLanka test team will make them pee in their pants if they play like this.

well i just checked the scoreline and it is dissapointing to see that bd were unable to dominate the proceedings.its like 60:40 in lankans favor at this stage. bashar put up some resistance but it seems they were too bogged down by a second string lankan attack. at least they fell short by 50-60 runs but the one positive being they played full day. but again, vaas, malinga, murli might prove too tough to handle and playing so slowly might just send the wrong msg to them, its imp they dominate the lankan A side, as it will send the right signal to their test team. scoring 30s and not converting them to 50s is too dissapointing to see.

Our problem is - "Auto Wicket". If you play stroke, wicket falls. If you play defensive, wicket falls. No matter what strategy you follow, we will go to hotel with 5/6 wickets down in a first day.

Bangladesh pitchs won't even turn on the 5th day of a Test, Pitches in Sri Lanka assist spinners from Day 1 and they're not afraid to put a little bounce on their tracks.

Yeah decent enough for me.. Batsmen like Sakib doesnt get out for 0 everyday..so that was just one of the bad days..good too see we lasted 70+ Overs and lost only 4 wickets.. Sakibs was a golden duck..draw it well..and go with confidence in the 1st test.

SL A team is a very ordinary team. Run rate should have been better against this type of ordinary attack.

Pilot and Saleh brought the RR alot along with most of our batsmen, but that's Saleh's natural game and I think Pilot played slowly because he wanted to make sure not to lose another wicket before the end of the way which is smart.
JO was also just starting to hit a few shots after a very slow start when he got out and that goes for Ashraful as well. So this slow RR is kind of unfortunate.

Except Shakib's duck this couldn't be better - my apprehension -
1. Most batsmen played around 14+ overs
2. Ash has crossed the hurdle of being pressurized to make runs as a captain
3. HB-s dream innings
4. Gutsy KM
5. JO hitting boundaries and looking good
Congratulate for a fighting first day in new condition, also this bowling attack is much better than India.

I am bit confused about Ashraful. It appears he has forgotten totally to take singles/2's/3's. He scored 37 from 89 balls. 30 out of those 37 came from bounderies and that leaves 7 runs from 83 balls in singles/others. Why the hell does he not rotate the strike and release pressure on himself?!

Only positive is they tried to play long innings, other than that there is nothing.

not good enough, but better than getting all out. i was looking forward to see 285 at the end of the day, but it ended with just 183 very sad. though we couldn't play all 90 overs, it would be 200+ if we could.

It's the breaks that are problems. Every time we have a lunch break, tea break, or its the end of the day, the batsmen seem to lose all concentration the next session - just like how bashar got out early today.
