Selection process or criteria for the Bangladesh's incoming coach
as an avid fan, i'm eagerly waiting for the next bangladesh's coach. whoever is selected for the job, it would be a herculean task to bring bangladesh' test performance from near-death experience.
the most intriguining thing about the selection process ro criteria is secrecy of the whole process. all i read abot the hiring process in various local news papers are board would invite top 3/2 candidates for the interview and would listen or see their presentation about the job rather than just offer the position to the selected candidate even withou their detail inputs (previously done). This is a minor improvement for the selection process but it still seems very vauge indeed. i strongly believe that the whole process still lacks of transparency, accountablity and public/fan oversight.
first of all, since this position had not been adversited so rest of the country and passionate global fans don't know what are the precise qualification, requirements and expectation for this pivotal position. or how this individual's performance would be evaluated or benchmarked against? so secrecy would serve best only bccb's top brass to cover up their horribly failure. i think bangladeshi culture/society/nation don't care that much about transparency, accountability, humility and public opinion. bangladeshi society is pretty much content with the notion "privilege without responsibility".
becoming coach for bangladesh is a uniuqe challenge for any foreign coach from every angle. bangladesh lacks reasonable world standard cricket infrastructures, much neded highly competetive first class cricket and professional cricket culture not emotional one. generally coach should be for the strategic advice, fine tuning and definitely for configuration and coordination purposes. configuration and coordination mean role of individual palyer regarding team's strategic intent and complimnet or overcome one's strengths or weekness. end of the day whole team should be more effective and productive than individual like conductor in symphony orchestra. in order to polish up individual skills they can get batting or bowling coach. in this case player would also aware of the fact that they cannot deligate individual core responsibilities such technical skills, mental ability, inspiration and performance to the coach. otherwise it would be like hiring kishore kumar then ask him to teach you sign like him or buchanon to teach bangladeshi batsman to bat like ricky ponting. on the other hand coach would know what kind of challenge he is getting into so he is mentally ready for this daunting task and there will be no rude wakening for any one. people should realize that if talent and potential were the chief qualities to be a force to reckon with then pakis would have been the world's top team not fearsome assuie.

There is no real criteria.
Process? There is one. It's called lobbying.

Well economist seems to have put his mind to some thought...be it right or wrong. I appreciate such efforts by the members.
To Economist: There's a good way to utilize your thinking abilities...and that is to participate in the forum often, and see what others are talking about. There may be a thousand mistakes you'll find in the two "great" threads you've opened. Coz after you see those mistakes, you can probably write excellent articles...I can see that happen. But for that, you gotta get involved in the forum.
