Default The official Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Thread: WARNING this thread may contain SPOILERS.

I just finished the book and I have to say it was a great series. What did all of you think of the book?

Read the whole thing on the 21st. Liked most of the book barring the last 2-3 chapters. And the epilogue was garbage. Still a big fan of the series though...

Can someone write the blurb (the writing on the back of a book) of the Harry Potter 7 book. I would really appreciate it.

All I can say is that Rowling is a true genius. Turning a guy like Snape into an angel at the very last minute, only a genius can do that.

Excellent read. Worth more than the time and money I spent on it. Those who say that this is for kids, and blah blah blah, get a life seriously. The book has more depth than your usual "adult" books.

The blurb on the back says:

"Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing - if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him?"

Lord AK, you should probably read no further if you really want to enjoy all the books to the fullest!

I also sped read and am in the process of rereading it.

I loved the beginning with the seven potters.. it was so scary and brilliant!

Always knew there was a reason why DD trusted Snape so implicitly. He was a very interesting character, Snape. The 'Look at me' just before he died was beautiful.

Dumbledore - who would have thought! Six books he was the serene, righteous, all-knowing (haha he sounds like God!) powerful good guy and then we get to know he is not so perfect after all. Or wasn't. It's kind of comforting in way to know he was only human.

And of course Harry walking through the forest was probably my favourite chapter in all of the seven books. JKR really had me there.. I really thought he was done for.

And of course, the final showdown - a little bit of an anticlimax, but wasn't really expecting a fullblown duel.

I'm still a little bit confused as to why Harry didn't die in the forest. So it was because he had a part of Voldemort, who in turn, had a part of Harry and therefore Lily's sacrifice? Then that little baby thing got blasted out of Harry, which meant Harry was now free of Voldie's soul. Ok I think I should read that part again..
but how do you guys understand it? There's a lot more to discuss, but I think I should stop too before I make it even more obvious what a nerd I am.

All in all, couldn't ask for a better way to end off the series (ok bar the epilogue, didn't like it either), JK Rowling is a genius.

There was a slight flaw in the story line with regards to the Elder Wand. There was mention of a duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald who supposedly possessed the invincible wand. Now the wand was never supposed to have lost a battle for it's owner, so how did Dumbledore win over Grindelwald who possessed the elder wand?

Wow, a harry potter thread in BC woohoo
well Mona, i read the book 3 years back, but from what I remember, when Harry was walking in the forest facing inevitable death, he was the owner of all three of the deathly hallow stuff. I cant exactly remember the objects, but somehow he possessed all three and was immortal at that moment. makes sense?

that was how the legend went. not that it was actually true. it was a powerful wand though.

Lol how dumb was I three years ago (could very well still be). Not even a proper spoiler alert on my post.

Beshideshi, yeah that makes sense. I think that was it. And ohhh yeah abt the Elder wand. And there were some other things too. I was so sad when the series ended, but I've forgotten so much. I think a re-read is in order! Btw, beshideshi I miss your old avatar. Cracked me up every single time.
