Part of the reason why the starter of this thread SohelNR, dubbed Siddique as the Next Superstar of BD Cricket is because during the 2006-07 season i Believe There was a domestic T20 Tournament where Siddique scored with free-flow(playing shots with ease and natural stroke making ability). I believe SohelNR watched him in real life during that season and his innings and was very impressed with him. The recent T20 innings is an indication of that promise(which Siddique showed earlier in an earlier T20 tournament)...how and why Siddique came to national colors.
I still don't see Siddique coming back to the National team any time soon though; however, He is more than welcome to continue these types of innings. right now, If i was a selector i would only feature him in T20 squad only(same as Ashraful).

May be I should clarify: the reason I bumped the thread was two-fold. I have not posted previously in this thread and JuSi's timely innings provided the right opportunity to do so.

Regarding his OD form, he's been pretty ordinary in this year's DPL. I wouldn't pick him if it were up to me. Too early to make a call regarding his T20 form though. So far so good.

After he plays a good knock we must rest him for 4 or 5 matches before bringing him back. Because anyone he will flop in these 4 or 5 matches. He is a 1 score in a 5 match batsman

The only consis. cricket is Ash
If he plays well then he plays well throughout(BPL). If he fails once, he will continue to fail...

His 2-year average is 30.78. His 1-year average is only 16.66. His 3/4/5-year averages are close to 23. I think he could be a good batsman, but has not been. For the most part.

I agree that 23 average looks really bad, especially for a top order batsman but if you guys don't remember, Junaid had a really poor start to his ODI career. As you see in my old posts, he averaged a 13 around the time he started. So for him to move it from 13 to a 23 is actually not bad. Also his average is a lot higher at #3, which is a 28.81 in ODI's and a 32 in Tests.
He had a very solid year in 2010 where he averaged a 35.5 with a SR of a 75.4 with a century and four half centuries and in tests he had an average of a 34.66 with a century and three half centuries. Also scored all these runs in a very important position at #3. It was great to see that we finally had a solid #3 and he looked so much better then Aftab and Ash who were our previous #3's.
Unfortunately he had a poor World Cup but so did all our batsmen. What was the most disappointing was how he didn't take his chance in the Zimbabwe tour. SN had struggled at the #3 spot and Junaid had 2 chances to prove himself but didn't. Then in the BCB Cup and the WI A team tour he didn't score enough and was rightfully not taken for the WI and Pakistan tours.
Having said all that, we still have a glaring hole at #3. SN has been performing really poorly ever since he scored the 97 against Pakistan. Ash has shown he's also not the answer and then Jahurul has not looked good at all in the BPL. So I do believe he has a very good shot at getting a spot in the Asia Cup and cement his place at #3 once and for all.
I believe he does have what it takes to be a class batsman at this level. He's a big strong guy who is a clean hitter. The key for him is to learn how to use the middle gears more often. He either plays too quickly or too defensively. He needs to rotate the strike better so that he doesn't get bogged down and play an unnecessary shot. If he can do that then he can be a very classy #3.

I thought the op had unearthed the next big thing in BD cricket. NOw in other recent threads he is calling this same superstar as mofees. What has happened to your "owneyes" as you always claim you have watched them through.

Technical note: When you take your bat back behind you on your back swing, it means you come AROUND your body - making most shots slightly across the line and the head go to the off side, whilst 'planting' your front foot. This is an error you would correct in children and young players.
It can result in not being able to get to the short ball targeted at your body very easily and also hitting around straight balls.
You can work out for yourself if this is where JS is....

I was an idiot to believe that he would actually have rectified his mitigating issues and become as good as he could be in the National Team. I was wrong, dead wrong. His inability to learn makes him a Mofees, and my overly enthusiastic endorsement as a fan equally Mofeesesque.
He still commits his front foot way too early against short and slightly back of length deliveries, much to his surprise and inevitable demise. He also plays with a heavy bottom hand which more often than not, gives his lofted shots in the V plenty of altitude but not enough distance. The fact that he also loses focus and takes his eyes off the ball makes him look worse than he actually is, and that's a tough proposition indeed.
BTW, I've also been wrong about Ashraful, Aftab, Alok and to a lesser extent Imrul. Shakib's has been a success story. Mushfiq's is still iffy and up in the air.

We have all been wrong regarding those guys because they all started well and then went on a steady decline.
I hope you are also wrong about Nazza! so that we have a chance in the second test
