Old Boys Club of Bangladesh Cricket Team
This is a surprisingly big list!! This is a list (see below) of our “EX” national team players who are still around and actively continuing their cricket career. Some of them still have chance to come back to the national team and some of them don’t stand a chance.
So far 44 players have been awarded the Test Cap. Except for 2 of them (Bikash Ranjan Das and Alamgir Kabir), the rest 42 test-capped players also played ODI for Bangladesh. One the other hand, 77 players got the ODI Cap. In total, 79 players have represented Bangladesh at international level in Test and ODI. A surprising 42% (34 out of 79) of the players are still in their cricket career, but outside of National Team.
This reminds me of two aspects of cricket in Bangladesh.
First of all, this shows how frequently we called players to the national team and how quickly we discarded them. There might be two explanations to this situation: One, we are a relatively new nation in ODI and test cricket and therefore the national team turnover rate was high during the initial development period. This high turnover rate will come to a steady state once we adjust to the optimum culture of developing a long-term balanced team for international level. The other explanation of this high turnover rate lies in our faulty selection policy. May be we have too sensitive ear that hears someone knocking on the national team door all the time or may be we have ultra-dynamic eyes which sees the brightness of rising stars day and night !! We selected too many players in national team just hearing the slight knock on the door or by seeing the even dim light of rising stars and eventually ditched them without giving any room for acceleration.
Secondly, god damn, we have a great ability of producing players!! If we can show the luxury of having 42% of our national team players still around in cricket as well as many young stars knocking doors (!) and many rising starts flashing lights (!), we certainly have a great cricket culture going on. I even thought about, hypothetically, a Zimbabwe-type crisis of sacking all our current national team players. Even then we’ll have 34 Ex-national team players to make two more national teams and I guess the degradation of standard might not be as bad as that of Zimbabwe.
The List of "EX" National Team Players Still in Cricket:
01. Akram Khan
02. Enamul Haque
03. Saiful Islam

Most of the them are bowlers and allrounders. As we are a newborn (infancy stage) with unrealisticly high expectation, this shuffle of players is bound to happen. The standard of these players are not very far from the current players. The Coaches had too much pressure to produce positive results. That's why they and the selectors tried so many players.

I am not trying to say that Japan cannot have a national cricket team. They even managed to get a player of Dean Jones's calibre to coach them!

"Breaking News"
Having your last name either Hossain, Islam or Rahman increases your chances of playing for BD national cricket team by 231 %. This has been researched and approved Mannan Mia, the world renowned multi Novel winner Bangladeshi scientiest who is is well known for his miraculous "titas molom" body ointment.
However, those who wishes to attain a coveted place in the prestigious BD cricket team should also bear in mind that they would have to suffer from a rare disease called "consistent" with a occasional flare of "talent".
Mr Mia has also indicated in his report that lately it has been cited with an alarming rate that few of the current players suffer from what is known among the fans as "Ashraful" syndrome, where there is a surplus of "talent" that is having a significant effect on their "conistency" . Clearly visible, an overlappin of such effect could be disasterous for the team.
But, an absense of either or both could have a fatal consequences resulting even a "premature depaticulation" from the team. So far as many as 44 victims has been found and has been treated with severe consequences. One such patient, being anonimous in this case, has even reported to refuse to believe his inabilities in "performing" and has demanded equal reward of financial and opportunity recognition.
A further investigation is currently being undertaken in Mr Mia's famous " Ashae gurebali" laboratory at Sodorghat and is expected to receive a "bulti bhorti sharer gu" reception among the fans when the report is due.

How was it possible that no Choudhary/Chowdhury ever played for Bangladesh? I think too many Hossain in the list though. Maybe Choudhary/Chowdhury's are not talented enough to play for Bangladesh.

Thought it is a pretty good thread to bring back.
Things have changed a bit- some of the members lost their membership, while some newbies have joined the club.
Players who lost membership:
Shaiful Islam- retired from cricket
Jahangir Alam- same as above
Alok Kapali- got a recall to the national team
Is not Salahuddin Ahmed is the current fielding coach of Bangladesh team?
Bulbul is also on the verge of loosing membership, as according to this website, he took up a coaching job with University of NSW.
New members:
Anwar Hossain Monir (the other Anwar mentioned above is, I believe, the Dhaka keeper)
Khaled Mahmud Sujon
Nazmul Hossain, Talha Jubair, and Tapash Baisya are also under serious consideration for membership, but nothing final has decided yet.

We might also add Ehsanul Haq, Sanwar Hossain, Fahim Muntasir and Naimur Rahman in the "Ex" List though I strongly believe all of them are strong enough to come back

01. Akram Khan - He's retiring very soon, this season or probably next season
02. Enamul Haque - He sometimes officiates as an umpire while playing domestic cricket
03. Saiful Islam - He's now too old
04. Anisur Rahman - Too old, but to be honest, his only ODIs were against Ind and you can say that a lad named Sachin Tendulkar destroyed his potential in International cricket
05. Sajjad Ahmed - He probably played his last few ODIs when he was around 25, so its no big deal that he's still around
06. Hasibul Hossain - I don't want to see his name - just because of (his performance vs.) Kenya
07. Naimur Rahman - His International career came to an abrupt end as he turned out to be a Sujon type player in Test cricket, now he's taking a more active role in politics
08. Salahuddin Ahmed - He was a good right arm off spinner, again played badly against Kenya
09. Jahangir Alam - Had 1 century in ICC trophy, from then on, he has no International performance to speak of
10. Shahriar Hossain - He's not technically sound, but good enough if you're looking to play against teams like Kenya and Zimbabwe in ODIs
11. Shafiuddin Ahmed - I thought he killed someone?
12. Sanwar Hossain - Are we looking for a specialist batsman or a specialist right arm off spinner?
13. Mehrab Hossain - His batting form was going down very fast in his last few International matches, but if you're looking to play somebody against Zimbabwe/Kenya - he's the man
14. Al Sahariar - if you don't want to win, just for somebody to bat well in meaningless games - he's the man
15. Manjural Islam - I thought Dav Whatmore didn't like him because he was not getting the ball to move back into the right handers?
Oh, I'm getting tired saying all these things about the above players, I also have more things to say about the players below, may be another day?

I also want to know about Mafizur Rahman Munna. I thought he played well in his last ODI and then just vanished.
