Default $20,000.00; too much???

This thread may seem negative minded to many of you. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience. However, do share your thoughts, so we can understand each other better.

Jamie Siddons has been appointed as new BD coach. My whole hearted welcome goes to him. Only time can tell what he can give us a coach. However, I would like to ask BC members, don't you think $20,000.00 ($20,000 x 69 = 1,380,000 tk) per month is a bit too much? Yes, he is a high profile coach, but when someone like Dave Whatmore, (who won world cup for a team), ended up on 10,000.00 per month, then what is the point of hiring someone for $20,000.00 per month? I don't even want to go to Bangladesh inflation situation.
By the way, how much are the other coaches around the globe paid? Please enlighten us with your knowledge.

P.S.: We could've hired McInnes for much cheaper.

To start off, Blazinmaruf, it's $200,000

Very briefly, I don't think 200k is a whole lot, considering the TV rights deal (Nimbus) and BD becoming a new and upcoming cricket nation.

Just so that you know, India paid $1M to their previous coach. Coaching jobs are difficult, and come with big price tags

check it out.. it says $20,000 monthly!

Simply, we are not as rich as Indian board.... we don't (our board) earn as much as they do.

It can't be 200,000 a month. I'd bang my head against the wall if it were. Maruf meant twenty grand on a monthly basis. I was of the impression that it was going to be 300,000 a year.

According to prothom alo, Siddons original demand was $200,000 per year to the last BCB board. I was hoping that after negotiation with Lipu, he came down a little bit. I think the $20,000 per month would mean that he is getting $240,000. WOW!!!

i am curious how much the coaches earn in other test playing nation!

I think Chappel earned around a million a year as Indian coach (although that sounds very unrealistic). Not sure about Buchanan, Woolmer, etc.

I think it's a good investment; we do have a pretty rich board.

I don't think we know the exact amount he's getting from BCB. Daily Star said $300,000, prothom-alo said $200,000. Now Inkilab saying $20,000 monthly. Different Dailies mentioned different amount. So I guess we have to wait till he comes to BD and BCB declares everything to the media.

For Greg Chappell , google comes up with different figures like 1.75 - 1.85 lakhs, 2.30, and 3.00 lakh dollars. Plus an annual travel allowance not exceeding $20 000 a share in logo money, communication expenses when with the team, a flat and 70 days annual leave.

You gotta cough up the right amount to get the best people on board. Its never cheap.

At the same time, JS knew about our situation. After being rejected by coaches, after coaches after coaches, we had our back on the walls and were pretty much looking to hire the Coach of Ugandan Woman's National Cricket Team.

If he made the most of that situation, i wont blame him. The guy is a professional.

And with all those media publications of how we made a $60 Million dollar contract with Nimbus, i would have been surprised if any "top rated" coaches would have agreed to anything less than what JS is commanding now.

Lets say, if he indeed getting paid around $250,000 per yr (taking the median of all the reports).. and lets say he does well enough to renew his contracts after this first 2 years.. and take us to a much higher and respectable place in world cricket,

the way i look at it, investing $500,000 is a mere pocket change in order to grab another media contract, but this time of $100,000,000. ( that would be my least target at the end of this nimbus contract, subject to mainly our own performance)
As an exciting and upcoming cricket mad nation, we should be able to double our net worth in 5 years.

As of the media reports and flight schedule, he should be touching down in Dhaka anything now.

According to me its way out of order, If he signs for 2 years BCB will end up paying him £278,400,00tk. I don't know about any other country's coach salary but for Bangladesh its certainly too much. Its my opinion, not my money

On a serious note, how do you call Dhaka, goohole? When was the last time you were there? Dhaka is one of the best places to live. Just like any other places on this earth you need to spend money to live a good life and its same in Dhaka.

200K yearly is not that expensive for a professional coach like Siddons. I am happy to see him getting paid than some BCB officials sharing this money under the table. If you want a world class team, you need to pay a world class coach top dollars. There is no way around it.

Orphy!! welcome back!!

No, $20,000 a month is not that much. Not for a high profile coach. Very well said Ahmed_B. However, Japanese coach would have come cheap and produced quality results. Does Siddons understand Japanese?
